Think we have just reached the nexus of frontrunner.

I didn't take much out of that performance, the bays were viciously poor. Nice to see North open up the top 3 spot for us.

Kris Massie's first game as senior coach of Glenelg was less than 2 years ago. From that match against North, only Allen, Mules, Kirkby, Hitchcock, McGinty and Earl remain. Some names that are no longer at the club from that match are : Kane, Cranston, Grima x 2, McMahon, Panozzo, Murphy, Rudolph, Kirk, Meyer, Ruwoldt, Adlington. Player turnover has been a significant factor in where the club is at right now. The coach is forming his own list and there are plenty of young inexperienced players at the moment.

From yesterday's team, only Allen, Mules and Kirkby have played more than 100 games. The average number of games for the rest of the team yesterday is 23. The average age of those players is just under 22. When you have a young inexperienced list the main issue is always going to be consistency.

From here we can only continue getting games into our players and be patient as the continuity and consistent effort will come.

This is not an excuse for our recent performances, just some reasons and facts. The opposition we have come up against have been far too good and i'm sure that is the level that our playing group aspire to.

Very good summary, add to the fact we have struggled on big grounds in recent years.

Ill judge Saturdays performance after I see the response Friday night.

one of the reasons given about mickans sacking was that the players were not in good condition

The Eagles have been unable to settle a side this season with the current number of playing league reaching 38 of which 10 played their first league game for the club.
The Eagles having been hit with one one life saving scare (amalgamation) and will not now settle for complacency or being second best. Some clubs go about handling difficult situations better than others but those with strong administration handle the low points better.
Although the Eagles appear of being accused of being flat track bullies I will remind accusers that we have beaten Norwood this season, how we perform against West and North next time we meet will give a fair indication of our standing.

Yep i think we will struggle to match up on Ainger and Salter. Will Grocke be fit?

Also hard to see us kicking a winning score especially if we lose Callinan and Henderson.

Only need to go to last weeks North v Eagles post match thread to identify some front runners.

Plenty of vocal Roosters appear to have lost their keyboards over the weekend.

Pretty quick return trip on the Karma Bus.

Good result for Centrals with the Crows winning this weekend. They are now likely to retain Callinan and Henderson, and being a home match for the Crows a travelling emergency will not be required.

Scott Blesing named best in the reserves with 39 possessions. Now three games in a row he has been in the best players in the reserves. May be pushing for a spot? Nathan Batley has also been consistently in the best players in the reserves and again on the weekend. Muirhead and Schwarz didn't look out of their depth at league level. Schwarz looks a good future prospect - seems to have a bit of grunt and toughness in close which we'll need when Powell retires. Muirhead a smart player who knows how to win the footy across half back.

Agree with comments re second string players, Aerie. It's great to have such depth given that we've gone alright on average the last few seasons without really have a strong reserves contingent. Guys like Blesing and Fitzy are unlucky not to be in the league team. Given that we've got several quality players injured and one decent player suspended it's a nice position to be in. Obviously in a game like the one on the weekend most players are going to stand out. Hopefully in what will no doubt be a tough one next week these players, with the pressure of guys like Blesing knocking on the door, will all play to their potential.

Are you suggesting we should just give up, roll over and send an SOS to see if another club can help bail us out and 'amalgamate' and share colours, etc so we can have a stronger admin department?

Aerie, I think you can also put Lachlan Carey in the same situation as some of the players you mentioned. When I first saw him play in a trial match he looked dreadful, could not hit a target. His kicking and delivery has improved considerably and I would feel confident of him performing well at league level, our depth is gradually growing. A pleasing feature is the stockpiling of talented juniors to help fill the void when the AFL players are relocated. Recently Matthew Jacquier has shown very encouraging form and now looks a possibility to have a league career. Jack Muirhead is an aerobic animal and will give much needed run from the backline, will only improve on his first game.
In my mind Tom Schwarz would be the ideal like for like replacement for Luke Powell when he retires the Eagles appear to be planning well.
