While Bernie was handy, there is no way that he or any of the other AFL players had any bearing on the result whatsoever. Guys like Sumner, Allmond and Rowntree had just as much impact as Vince. The other AFL players didn't stand out either; in fact Kane Mitchell made a couple of bad errors for an AFL player. How anybody who was at the match can draw the conclusion that the AFL contingent stunned Norwood is beyond me. Lazy, dumb journalism is what it is. It's fine to highlight the fact that AFL players may substantially boost an SANFL club if it's true, but it degrades the SANFL comp when, like this case, the AFL players had no particular impact.
On a positive note, a great performance by the Eagles. One of our best wins in a while given that we were playing away to the premier, coming off a big loss etc. We played good football for four quarters, and had the Legs scratching their heads for much of the night. The debutants looked solid, and Sumner and Ainger further pressed their claims for State selection. We looked especially good in space (which we should) and attacked and scored goals quickly, something that Godden rightly pointed out was important after the game at Unley. I thought everyone contributed.
Was near Fuller when he clobbered an Eagles player. Freddy will I think be furious because it was so blatant; the ump reached into his pocket straight away. The Eagle wasn't hurt but there's something very wrong if Fuller doesn't get a week for it.
Great to get 2 points off Norwood early, especially as we don't play them again until the 2nd last match IIRC, so they're basically not a factor for us for the rest of the minor round at least. Bring on Port.

I'm pessamistic by nature, but I was rapt with this win. Thought we played as good as we have since 2011. That sort of performance would be good enough to beat any side IMO.
