You are amazing marbles, Mitchell Park won 4 games in 2009 and 1 in 2010 in Div6 then 11 in Div 7 in 2011 and won a Div 7 flag in 2012. BIG gap between 6 and 7. You should know that.

How many blokes from the 2010 Div 6 team played in the 2011 Div 7 team? Further more how many of the 2010 team played in the 2012 GF winning side? I would say not alot but could be wrong (happens a bit  ) Any relegated team in all divs (exception possibly Woody Sth last season) knows they still have to recruit a good amount of good players to do well the following year in the lower div. If the gap between div 6 and div 7 was that big the need for Ingle Farm and Houghton to recruit heavily wouldnt be there.
I am not pointing this at Ingle Farm or Houghton but instead those that feel the gap between div 6 and div 7 is so big, hence the constant posting about Ingle Farm being favs.

Bigshow82, 16 from the Div 6 side in 2010 played in 2011 and 14 played in the 2012 premiership. the other 8 were recruited in 2012 with one purpose in mind, a strong desire on their behalf to have success. The good thing is they have all stayed, that is the number 1 priority when getting new guys to your club.

I agree with Q. Its hard to compare as it changes year after year.

Having played quite a few seasons in Div 6 and 7, the biggest differences for me are as follows:

The bottom 5 players

In Div 7 I have played games against teams whereby my direct opponent was not fit for senior level A Grade (or C Grade) football. Either due to talent, fitness or experience. Not trying to be derogatory and we have had to field some blokes who fit into this category, sometimes I have been in this category, but the bottom 5 players in Div 7 teams are noticeably weak compared to the Div 6 teams.

The bottom 3 teams

Most of the time the bottom teams in Div 7 are walk up wins for the top 5. This just isn’t the case in Div 6 where I have seen relegated teams knock off finalists. So you don’t get any opportunity to let up. Injuries take much more of a toll in Div 6 as you will drop games you might have won with a full strength squad etc. I know we rested guys and tried out different things when playing sides we knew we would win against pretty easily.

But for me, the biggest difference is:

You’re playing guys who are representing the A Grade of their club, who are fit, who are motivated, who have a lot of pride in their performance. I have played a lot of games in Div 7 when even if they’re players are supremely talented and very good footballers, aren’t motivated to truly stretch themselves – get the old “ah, its only C Grade” or “ah, its only Div 7” sort of attitude. This completely disappears in Div 6 and week in week out you’re coming up against guys who are just as determined as you are to win the game.

So I guess the main reason why people see such a massive gap between the divisions is because I reckon it sort of changes from being a social, fun division to being a very serious football division.

Facts are facts morell, it does not matter what division you play in, A1 to C6, your top 14 players determine your strength, the remainder will depend on your B's or depth, to win a flag your B's need to be top 3. I have always said that a clubs strength is about the quality of its reserves. When the BIG day comes, players 15 to 22 determine the outcome. I was fortunate to coach an A1 C grade team but lack of depth from 15 to 22 saw them finish 4th. Development of the lower end is reliant on what is set in place prior to season start. Just my opinion.

I was driving past Rowe Park on the way home and I nearly crashed my car into a stobie pole! Tremendous numbers on the track and a very sharp, fit looking unit was before me.

So I had a little peekaboo, parking quite inconspicuously on the street at the northern end. They were working on a highly complex stoppage set-up...one that my feeble mind struggled to fully grasp.

But maybe that was just because I was a little distracted by the sight of a ginger rolls-royce in action. Former PNU marquee man Dan Bryant was spotted tearing up the track in all his ginger-headed glory! This is a bloke who was playing Div 1 footy less than three years ago before a serious knee injury put the brakes on what was looking to be a glittering career. And they say you're never the same after a knee reco. Well Bryant's proved that theory right because based on what I saw tonight HE'S BETTER!!!

This is a great snaffle by the Farmers, who already had recruited well. This may well be the icing on the proverbial cake.

Wowwee, who from ingle farm has been drinking his cool aid? Nothing but a 15-21 player at best at that level, if not just a ressies player.
Reasonable bloke, but he'd probably be carrying a few extra kgs & you might as well start running a pool on whether his hamstrings or knees give out first!
I certainly hope he's the white knight to pull the farmers out of div 7.

Is Pete Early playing at Angle Vale this year? Pretty sure I've seen him training at Eastern Park over summer.

Some fancy speculation there Gatt.

What's more note worthy for this Ingle Farm v Mawson Lakes clash, is that for the first time the teams will play for the Riddler/Knowles cup.
I've also heard the winning coach gets the choice of being the outside or inside of that nights spoon

This Ingle farm tripe is getting real boring, real fast. They are rubbish and will flounder at the bottom of the ladder. Get on Angle Vale to defeat Houghton for the flag!
