RELEGATION TABLE
GRADE 1
Craigmore 54.20
ATCO 53.89
Vale 39.27

[b]Run Home to finals

Craigmore: Virginia (H), Angle Vale (H), One Tree Hill (A), Central United (H)
ATCO: Angle Vale (A), One Tree Hill (H), Central United (A), Virginia (H)
Angle Vale: ATCO (H), Craigmore (A), Salisbury West (H), Rose & Crown (A)

Craigmore: Produced two remarkable efforts in a row against the front runners, will need to take that effort up a knotch to avoid relegation. Batting is strong, but appear to be a bowlers short, 2 wins will be enough IMO, but win or lose the key for the Blues is to stick to their strength which is batting and look to bat for as long as possible in all games, they will accumalate more points than ATCO in the batting stakes.

ATCO: From no where have stepped up a level in recent rounds. Their batting is slow, although they work hard to bat for long periods and bat out the overs, I cant see them building large totals. Bowling on the other hand has potential to be very dangerous. From an ATCO perspective if a win was out of the question, i would be inclined to sacrifice an outright loss to get as many overs in with the ball as possible, looking to collect a few extra wickets for those all important points.

Angle Vale: Relegation seems a certainty for last years semi-finalists. They may not be able progress up the ladder or play finals, but they certainly can play an integral part in shaping the final placings. Snag a win in the next two rounds, and the pressure mounts on that side to avoid relegation. Danger team - nothing to lose, and can create plenty of headaches for other teams.

It will be interesting to see how the sides tackle the remaining matches, how aggressive they are in trying to produce positive results for themselves and accumalting as many points to avoid relegation as possible. Do you bowl first in the final 1 day game and look to restrict a side to a low total, giving yourself a chance to chase a bonus point? Will we see aggressive declarations in the 2 dayers?

McKenzie hopefulls:

After a very even season without any real consistent stand out performers, I think this years winner will come from the following group:

T. Scott - The stand alone favourite for me, ask anyone about OTH and the name T. Scott is the first thing that springs to mind.
D. Jenner - Consistent as always, has the added benefit of batting and bowling 1st change, is always in the game. Predicting a top 4 finish but slim chance of collecting the top prize.
D. Ritzema - As with Jenner, bats and bowls regularly and has had a stellar season so far, is my smokey for a top 3 finish.
A. Leo - When Leo performs, Virginia performs. Outside chance, but Virginias poor start to the season may prove costly.
J. McInnes - Buckets of wickets, will jump out the blocks early, but not sure will poll enough votes mid season to remain a threat.

Others who will poll well for their club:
B. Jenner (R&C)
J. Natsias (VIR)
B. Woodward (CU)
T. Gebauer (Craig)
R. Parker (ATCO)
P. Neil (OTH)
A. Hewitt (Craig)
D. McIntyre (SW)

Just a quick question, what happens in the following scenario?
Angle vale: finish bottom but their b grade is already in grade 2.
ATCO: finish 7th but b grade is top in grade 3 and finishes minor premier and moves up to grade 2.
Craigmore: if they finish 7th but their b grade plays in grade 3 GF and beats an ATCO b grade that finished top and move up to grade 2.

Just a scenario that could take place and I find it interesting but I'm unsure what would happen?

A grade in the grade they deserve, B grade no higher than 1 grade below that.

Ok so A grades get relegated and B grades stay in grade 3??
What about angle vale if their B grade don't finish in grade 2 relegation, they don't deserve to go down though??

Can't have 2 teams from the same club in the same grade.

OTH: Rose & Crown (A), ATCO (A), Craigmore (H), Wesies (A)
CU: Westies (H), Rose & Crown (A), ATCO (H), Craigmore (A)
VIR: Craigmore (A), Westies (A), Rose & Crown (H), ATCO (A)

Goats: Although all 3 teams have the same sides left to face, OTH have the toughest run home with 3 away trips to finish the season. A capable batting lineup which has struggled in the past couple of games, the Goats will be looking forward to the return of the 2 day format which better suits their strong batting lineup. Always a tough close match up against R&C, they should be confident going into this weekend.

Our home ground has not been a happy hunting ground this year. The goats have lost 3 games this season and have all been at home. Disappointing for the home fans....or fan. We have produced some good cricket away from home so thats something we can take into the last half of the season. Looking forward to the 2 dayers again, hopefully can put some big scores on the board going into finals.

Well, you can but they association won't allow it with the higher grades. In the lower grades a C and D grade side might end up in the one grade but if a club's A grade finishes bottom in grade 1 and their B grade win a grade 2 flag, both sides get relegated.

Nope incorrect if your a grade were relegated from div2 and b grade promoted from 3 then u stay in the exact same grades as what happened to Atco 2 years ago, there a grade finished bottom in div 2 their b grade runner up in div 3, the next year they stayed in the same divs and the a grade made a div 2 GF

Probably getting to the stage where the PDCA should reduce numbers from 8 to 6 in each grade so that will incraese the cpmetiveness of games each week and shuffle some sides out of grades that they shouldn't be in

Play every side home and away two day games comes out to 20 weeks, premier only promoted and have a play off 5 v 6 for relegation

Just something out of left field that could work and make the grades far more interesting

I've been an advocate for that concept for a while, having said that though, Grade 1 is as even as you could possibly get, the number of beltings is decreasing, there's going to one very unlucky side come season's end.

Which part of my comment do you believe was incorrect? The example you've cited doesn't negate anything I said so far as I can tell.

There have been a few ideas floating around for even longer than that but things move very slowly sometimes.

VIR: The dark horse, capable of producing magic some weeks as have shown in the new year, would fancy themselves in each of the remaining games after falling agonisingly short against R&C earlier in the year, and pushing SW also and have proved in recent years they are Westies achilles heel. 11pts behind the teams above, they would need to rely on results to go their way and put in a flawless finish.

Well done to John Parker and the PDCA u/21s ,they travelled to Flinders Pk last sunday and smashed the ATCA u/21s 107 all out Vs 7/110 on turf , the lads now get a gig on the hallowed turf of Adelaide Oval. great effort to everyone involved .

all credit where credit is due. great effort to see the youth of our comp coming through and gettin results on the representative stage,,, but i think calling a 3 wicket win a smashing is a bit of an exaggeration. i wasnt there on the day so didnt see the game so i dont know how it all panned out but i reckon if i had a side 7 down in a chase i would always feel like im in the game with a chance of winning. usually when ya get smashed its a one sided affair... the scores dont really represent that.

who do they play at adelaide oval then?

I must be reading it wrong but u said if an 'a' grade finishes bottom in div 1 and the 'b' grade win div 2 both teams would be relegated!

Wouldnt this mean they would play in div 2&3 the next season.

This wasn't the case in the Atco situation I pointed out.

I must still be drunk from the cricket or am I missing something.
