Not if he was referring to the award named after a certain assistant coach of the AFC.

Having heavy performance based contracts with a top notch/ talented squad seems to rely on having some injuries to balance out the books at the end of the season.
What seems to give CEO's nightmares is the unknown number of AFL games that count let's say $500 per player each game, making it somewhat of a guessing game until the minor round is over.
Going over by a minor amount is hardly cheating ala the "Camry Cheats", but over as much as Westies were can't be accepted at all.
Time will tell if anything interesting comes out in the new year, but we did warn about the new Sheriff 8)

Norwood were well under TPP for 2012 .. I'm aware of the whispers going around as most would be, and we'll wait and see what it may or may not amount to, but it's not for exceeding the Cap.

All clubs would be under if they were as selective as Norwood with what they included in their TPP. Norwood are in the gun for making other payments and not including them as salary cap in the version of events that I heard. No excuses for the number of salary cap breaches we are still seeing.

Yet another reason we should faark the Crows and Power listed players off to the VFL.
The current Salary cap is a shambles and no wonder clubs are in trouble when you have to be an expert in nuclear physics to work out the TPP

Coming from a Centrals supporter
No excuses, if we are guilty we should cop it.
Just seems like more and more clubs are breaching it or being investigated each year.

And getting pathetic penalties that make cheating worthwhile. This is why an import rule seems to be getting more and more necessary.

We have an import rule now. I thought when it came in that it was restictive but you can see over the past few seasons with no scrutiny on $$$ re Vic Clubs outside the AFL how hard it is to recruit even VFL State League players let alone ex AFL listed players.

Some clubs don't seem to have a problem meeting it injuries or no injuries. Mind you sticking to the cap cost us Matt Suckling in 2010.

But why not have a point system like ammos and country leagues.
That way every club knows before the season starts, all clubs get say 15 points. Then just work out a system ie 3 points for a ex AFL player, 2 points for a league player from another SANFL club, 1 point for a ressies player from another SANFL club
The system now is terrible, having to take into consideration AFL listed players, injuries etc, just seems like a nightmare.

AFL listed players attract a cost of $500 per game but working out how many you will have avaialable and will play league can be a lottery but I understand the league is very liberal re the unknowns for clubs so it is not overly scrutinsed. The injury payment is ridiculous and way to complex for anyone to forecast with any certainty even half way through a season let alone the begining of the year. However clubs need to review contracts and how they pay them and week by week match payments.

Wow, as a neutral who couldn't give a flying f*** about it, this thread comes across as a case of pure sour grapes from Centrals fans...

You seem to think you know some specific information - That's interesting!!

Let's take the Premiership team for example -

Chippendale
Clarke
Brown
Jefferies
Smart
Aish
Kirwan

And if you think, Dawe, Webber, Zorsi, Terlich, Donohue, Georgiou, Gallagher and Warren were on massive coin, you're on drugs.

Anyway, not much point trying to defend it because the SANFL seem piss weak in their (lack of) effort to do so .. Use some genuine unbiased nouse and if you think Norwood have exceeded the limit from their list, then you know fug all about footy.

But, who gives a crap, if your club was good then we'd be talking about yours not mine ;)
