People aren't interested in five day batathons.

They can go to a t20 and see that in three hours.

From what i saw of the pitch on day one it will be very hard to bat on when day 4 and 5 comes around.

Swann was turning them a long way.

Currently 6 / 449

Pujara 164*

Agree but by day 4 I think the only result possible will be a draw unless there is a colossal collapse

Game will be lucky to make day 4 going by the turn late on day 2. Not sure why India selected Yadav or Zaheer for that matter, it's just not cricket when spin bowlers open the bowling in test cricket.

Does any one know why there appears to be so much noise and a big crowd there?
Have they let everyone in for free?

The disturbing thing to my mind about this pitch is the attitude of some of the Indian commentators. They're actually proud of it.

Heard one of them say "grass is for cows", and there was some talk about it being a true test of ability. Seems to me more of a true test of winning the toss and having a team full of spinners.

Oz can expect much more of the same when we head over there next year. Genuinely difficult stuff if you haven't grown up with those conditions.

Agree they were actually talking about next test playing four spinners and getting a couple of the batsmen to open the bowling with a few over each.

They conceded that zahir khan will play with 3 spinners and that 4 spinners wouldn't like to play together as they wouldn't get long enough spells.

England 5/69

Ian Bell out first ball, worse dismissal I have ever seen in test cricket!!!!!!

Tried to hit the spinner back over his head, skied it to mid off who took an easy catch.

What has test cricket come to when a batsmen is trying to hit a six first ball. We had Gayle a few days ago now Bell learn about test cricket ffs

Couple of rippers from the ball-by-ball commentary:

"Gav, we are also covering 12 Ranji games apart from the three Tests. It's like a stock market here. Only no money is changing hands..." Oops, did someone say match fixing?

"It may have been a first ball duck, but let's acknowledge that Bell looked really elegant while playing that shot. England need something to take away from this..." Gold.

Poms all out for 406. Cookie made 176.
India is 0/50 chasing 76 or so to win.
