Trav is a big positive, just needs to cut a few rash shots out and he will be destined for a good career.

Trav is always going to get out playing rash shots unfortunately, that is the way he plays. Even in the second innings he gave chances and nicked a few etc. He is an instinctive see the ball, hit the ball batter.

The big positives IMO are:
The team while having poor sessions, are showing they can be dominant in others which are giving us chances to win the game - previously we were rolled in 3 days
Travs continued develpment as an 18yo
Kelvin Smith waiting in the wings and belting 170 in a futures game
Cooper coming back into form with a few 100s in both Grade and Futures cricket

In great form but who makes way?
Cooper should be in the current side, would think he would come in for Raphael and Klinger goes back to opener but barring injury is their another spot in the Top 6 up for grabs?
Christians form with the bat is worrying but he is obviously our best allrounder

let's be honest, if it was just about form then Botha would not be in the side. Would love to see kelvin get a few one dayers under his belt first though

Im not saying trav can’t tighten up his game and I know he is working very hard on it, but when he does get out its normally his fault through poor shot execution

As for Kelvin, I see him where Trav was last year. He will most likely play SS games at the back end of the year so he has security and doesn’t have to worry about being dropped. Then another pre-season under his belt and off he goes – but who knows, Berry may have a trick up his sleeve but I wouldn’t rush him into the SS side for the sake of it

Christian is batting to high up the order and with the top order not firing it puts additional pressure on him. Ideally he bats 7 but that would mean getting some quality overs out of a top order bat and playing 3 pace and 1 spinner

Good point, this would depend on uinjury and form when the time comes. Also may involve a tough call by Berry, if Kelv is belting down the door with performances ie a Ferg or Trav who you cuold say are inconsistent atm in the first innings.

We have the quality with the bat, Cooper was a top Junior player him and Henriques bullied the U19 comp, Hughes and Klinger speak for themselves, Ferg has to get back into consistent form, Trav keep developing. The collapses are the thing that kills us, not the players we have available

To be honest, I would prefer to see James Smith promoted before his brother, Kelvin. I get to see a fair bit of both of them play, thankfully, and I see James more ready for Shield cricket than Kelvin. Yes, James has had a few opportunities in the past but really seems to have matured as a player this year and has been a very consistent performer. Kelvin, whilst being an excellent young player, is still a bit more prone to inconsistency. Give him another year or two and he will settle into the State team a lot better.

Last few seasons have been injury interrupted, but the results are always there. Hey, they pick Patto and Harris in the two or three Tests that they are fit for, so why not Putland?

Putland is definitely a good enough bowler to do well in the Australian team, his only issue is he is so injury prone, can't get through 3 games without getting injured
