Do they really want to inherit this bloke and all his baggage, his selfishness, his salary, his threatening to sue his former club, etc.

Surely they would be starting to second guess whether this is going to be a negative impact on a club who just won a premiership without this bloke.

And to top it all off Tippett refuses to meet with GWS management who in turn have de-listed Brogan to make room for Tippett.

What a mess!!!

As has been mentioned previously, the swans strong club culture will ensure any baggage will be gone quickly. Morton spent 9/10 of the year in the 2's until he was worthy of a game.

Yeah but Morton probably gets $200K a year tops and the weight of expectation on him would be far less than that on KT at the moment. Expensive lesson having a million dollar man running around in the 2's until round 20.

Not to mention Morton probably left his last place of employment on slightly better terms than Tippett, i.e. not threatening to sue them. Surely there is an enormous cloud hanging over his head and anyone taking him on risks the same being done to them when he doesn't get his way.

I understand what you are saying Frosty. But, fact is that the Crows agreed to terms with Tippett (illegally to AFL rules, but that is a separte issue) but did not follow through with what was agreed to!! They have dudded him. He stooged them first with his decision and the rather rude way he went about it, but that was his choice to do so. Tippett did not break his 'contract". The Crows did.

If the Swans don't want any trouble, perhaps they should abide by everything they agree to do, and there should be no problem!!!

Is Tippett necessarially any more "selfish" or money hungry or whatever criticism we could throw at him than any other player? Don't they all ideally want to play for who and where they want and earn their market value? Once the must-leave-Adelaide issue is resolved there may not be as much baggage there to deal with as some think.

Not sure about the line of argument that he is now a flawed character that Sydney must avoid. I assume they would still want him as much as they did a month ago.

I'm sure there are plenty of mercenaries in the AFL but there are also numerous stories of players taking pay cuts to stay at a club for the good of all concerned. I.e. Geelong - and look where that's got them over the last 5 years.

At what point did Sydney actually come out and say they wanted Tippett? Before or after he elected to go there much to the surprise of the football world.

Obviously the other players mentioned went chasing $$$ but legitimately testing free agency as opposed to getting paid extra in jam and cream filled chocolate donuts...

I think Sydney went after Tippett in the week before the grand final. :-$

The Age's Emma Quayle is breaking the story that Adelaide are now also being investigated for third-party payments to captain Nathan Van Berlo.

So Van berlo signed a contract knowing it was not legitimate.

As the captain of Adelaide football club He should be made an example of for younger players and be de-registered from afl immediately. ;) ;)

Ah ha! Here is the reason so many of Tippett's ex team mates have for stuck into him for leaving and the ensuing scandal that followed.

How many other Crow players have similar deals that now have their cover blown? If he wasn't such a money hungry bastard and decided to stay no one would have been the wiser...

A plausible notion except for the fact that Tippett's manager's daughter works in the Swans marketing department and the Swans CEO is good mates with the Lions former Media Manager - Tippets current manager (maybe you can get my daughter a job).... To think the Swans weren't aware of Tippett's "situation" is akin to thinking the Crows are going to get off without penalty for draft tampering and salary cap breaches. Fortunately for the Swans the evidence against them is all circumstantial. However it is well known the Swans have been "up to their eyeballs" in going after Tippett long before whispers started to break-out in early August.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I'm confused. What have the Swans done that's against the rules?
