Sorry, I'm not watching so could be wrong, but does the phrase "shit gets wickets" apply in this case?

I understand the line has been moved, but what I am disputing is PG saying its where the ball pitched is the reason it was given not out. This was not the case

Looked dead-set plumb, DRS showed it crashing into middle and off, it hit inline with the stumps, just not within the different strike zone this time around.
The zone has been shifted to be measured between the centre of the off and leg stump now. So last year, that was out.

Tell me what happened - I'm in a meeting and pretending to be paying attention!
LBW shout given not out, went to DRS showed it was out, but pitched just outside the line and went to Umpires call which was of course not out.

It wasn't a shite ball just a carp and lazy shot. Very soft dismissal

Huh?
How much has the cricketing world changed in the 12 years I've been away? I understand they've got some pretty cool technology now, saw it on YouTube, surely it should now just be a straightforward "if his leg wasn't there, it would've hit the wicket: out!"
What's this zone bullshit? Why does it get moved sometimes?

The zone has been made narrower "to create a greater level of certainty".
