Sorry BP2, Unemployment is increasing in Australia including Queensland due to Federal Government Policies. The layoffs that Newman has made in the Public Service are nothing like 1.2% of the Qld workforce. Unemployment is going up in Qld largely because companies are laying off staff just like in every other state in Australia and tourism is dropping as people across Australia struggle to be able to afford it in the rising cost of living under Julia Gillard.
I know that you never like facts to get in the way of a good story, Sojourner, but lets look at the facts as according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics:
http://www.ausstats.abs.gov.au/ausstats ... 202012.pdfNew South Wales: Unemployment
steady at 5.2% since July.
Victoria: Unemployment
down from 5.9% in March to 5.6% in September.
South Australia: Unemployment
down from 6.4% in June to 5.6% in September.
Western Australia: Unemployment
down from 4.1% in January to 4.0% in September.
Tasmania: Unemployment
down from 8.1% in April to 7.3% in September.
Northern Territory: Unemployment
down from 4.0% in June to 3.9% in September.
ACT: Unemployment
up slightly from 3.6% in June to 3.8% in September.
Queensland: Unemployment
up from 5.3% in June to 6.3% in September.
Would you kindly like to restate your earlier comment?? It would appear that the ONLY state experiencing rising unemployment is Queensland, would it not??
Now do you think that may just have a wee bit to do with Campbell Newman????
You have to remember that it is not just the public servants there who have lost their jobs. The loss of their income has meant that they have less to spend, giving less income to other businesses, resulting in further losses of jobs. These people then also have reduced incomes, leading to less spending, more unemployment..... less spending, even more unemployment, and so the vicious cycle of Campbell Newman's Liberal policy goes on and on and on....
Cheers
