All grounds were stinkers today. Saw a few games in western suburbs and even they were under water.
If western suburbs grounds are under water then the Parklands or Hope Valley and all grounds east of the city would be a shocking.
Winter sport and have to put up with it. Extremely wet winter. Thats why its a final to test all conditions.

FC - Why arnt they putting in for one? Most grounds were ordinary today and i cannot see how anywhere other then AAMI would have been much better.

Probably because they feel they'd be at a disadvantage playing in those conditions. Good chance they'll get put at Thebarton next week.

I would think Tea tree Gully in Div 2 would play at Thebarton before a Div 5 game.

Right on the money the money there Q I reckon, Lutherans game style doesn't suite the wet, muddy and sloppy conditions like we experienced today. I would of thought todays conditions helped Hope Valleys A grade, turning the contest into a scrap which would of suited HV more? HV posters would you agree?

No idea, it's only what I heard - maybe its because their game plan best suits more solid ground, why would they play on a surface that will act to their detriment?

I agree, not many great grounds going around at the minute, and we were very lucky the conditions suited us better, so not complaining at all ;)

However, I don't think you'd find many people around the place that would enjoy finals being played on Parklands after heavy rains, for a number of reasons.

Morgan Oval 2010 is a perfect example.

All grounds will be muddy as it has rained a lot in the last 3 weeks.

haha, oops, beat me to it TDK.

Yeah, and we were worried when the rain stopped and the sun tried to peak through in the last quarter

Doubt they'll get Thebby, as TTG will probably get it as they can't have home finals.

Just to clarify, YES all grounds will be muddy to some extent, however ovals have drainage and therefore the damage is usually most limited to the middle and around the squares.

Parklands are DESIGNED to retain water, as they don't get watered, therefore when it gets muddy, you're up to your armpits in it - from end to end

One reason they might not play there is that the council may be prepping the oval to become Royal Show parking for all the trucks and horse floats and whatnot..

Cars park on there oval, but if it is to wet the council will not open the parklands for parking.

Glenunga's ground wasn't anything better. The game should have never been played on there. It was good to go to that average ground and get a win. Well done Kookas.

Oh seriously stop whinging about the oval. The whole reason for finishing higher on the ladder is to receive a HOME final, that is the advantage of it which unfortunately didn't happen for us today. If you earn the right to play at home, then you deserve to play on your home deck in front of your home crowd.

Sure was. Trudging through the mud all day :P

Oh well we have to put up with the state of the oval whether we like it or not. Be interesting to see where Lutheran will play if they dont host the semi finals and can't play at Thebarton.

On a side note, had a laugh when before the game everybody was ready to go and one of the umpires came up to our assistant coach and asked what time we start- mustn't of umpired too many 12.15 games before.

They were ok though I thought, they were pretty hot on little free kicks like high, in the back which were there but usually those sort of ones are not called in the B grade and are most often play on. They seemed to let players diving on the ball go for the majority of the game.

Well said. Lost fair and square today. Both teams played in very ordinary conditions. Well done kookas. Game played in great spirits and the best team won. Good luck to all teams still in the race. I reserve my comments from the Lutheran supporter in the leather jacket for now!

Last few years have seen the early finals I've been involved in (albeit at lower levels on sundays) start at 12 with the late game starting at 2.30. We had a similar thing happen at Uni Oval yesterday with both timekeepers thinking it began at 12 and the umpires thinking 12.15.

I noticed this also...i was paid a couple of free kicks which i gladly took but didnt even really know what they were for until the umpire said the player was holding and high. I also noticed and maybe it was because of the wet slippery ball that they let alot of diving on the ball go. So quite interesting that two people from different games noticed the same thing

I would think Tea tree Gully in Div 2 would play at Thebarton before a Div 5 game.

Tea Tree Gully's Div 7 C's and D's got Thebarton yesterday so you would think their Div 2's would be odds on.
