So Rucci is a credible source now :)

I'm not saying that Boak isn't a reasonable chance of leaving, but I would think a better source than that would be needed to confirm it.

Not quite mate. Just thought it was funny that rucci thinks he knows all. I for one think he'll head back to vic but not necessarly to Geelong. Apparently a down deal accirding to big R.

It would be good if Rucci's source was a little more concrete thab Boak's bodylanguage before he makes definitive type statements about his future.

He may well be gone, I don't dispute that, but Rucci would probably have no more idea than anyone on here.

Port Adelaide Season 2012

Genuine question here as I rarely watch port games. Is boak really that good?? The amount of hype surrounding him suggests that he is on the verge of being an elite midfielder.

He is over-rated but he's a known quantity. If he goes and we don't get a good deal for him, the club will have lost out.

Also, any draftee will also take 3 or 4 years to step up to approaching anywhere near his level.

The other thing is, that if he leaves it could open the floodgates for other players drafted from interstate (eg Gray, Trengove etc) to return home.

Will be a very good player in a good team. He's an outside player in the main but has to go and get his own ball at the moment. Put him in a top 4 team and he will be outstanding.

so booney if he would be a gun in a top 4 side do you think thats what will make him go as port a bit away from success....you would hope he would be loyal but we all know thats gone nowdays not many play for the love of the jumper anymore....

It's well publicised that he lost his father about a year before coming over here and is close with his Mum and siblings, you can understand the pull to be a family unit as much as possible in those circumstances.

We all better grow accustomed to players moving around, I think it will happen more and more in the future.

And I would think where we are as a club may have a bearing on his decision. I hope it doesn't though.

I don't think Ports current ladder position will have too much of a bearing - considering in 3 or 4 years time when he is in his prime Port may well be a very improved side - with the development of the young playing group. Could be a case of jumping ship too late if Geelong is his destination. (Nathan Buckley anyone?)

Family, Money, and relationships with current coaching staff would be of greater influence IMHO

With Geelong, Melbourne and North Melbourne being the other contenders, from that list well you would say that he would be heading to Geelong possibly at the wrong time for long term success. I'm not saying he wouldnt get it at Geelong but not to the same extent they have seen previously. Melborune, well you know its a possibility but geez they'll have a bit more pain yet. They have some good players and should be doing a heck of a lot better but there is plenty of pain if you go there. North on the other hand would be the team best placed out of the three if thats what he is looking at.

Don't you worry about the Catters boys we aren't going anywhere. We'll be back in the top four before Port even make the eight. With Boak on board he can help make that happen. The Scott era was always about 2015, last year was just a happy accident because the evil media with a clear agenda against Collingwood (who peaked in May) coughed up a flag.

Come home Trav, come home!

Maybe we can get Blakey back. ;) Might have to contact mr McIntosh. At least he can play six matches in a row.

Brain-farts, under-10 skills and apparent lack of fitness make Port the most entertaining team in the comp...

With the Geelong trio coming to see Boak in Adelaide, does that not contradict the rules the AFL has in place about negotiating with a contracted player?

Surely such a move by Geelong is not within the rules. From what I gather, Boak cant negotiate a deal with any club at this point ( other than Port ) so why can Geelong send Scott, Bartel and Selwood into bat like they did?

The club is in massive trouble if this doesn't improve. Problem is port don't really have any stand out players who are a drawcard that most people want to go watch

I would have thought so, but with it being so blatant perhaps you can speak to anyone except about getting them to go to your'e club. They probably wouldn't have mentioned it.
