i wont shoot you down, ill disagree but not tell you youre a wanker with no idea....if indys should fold, perhaps rfl b grade also. alot of clubs struggling from what i can understand.
i think its time some indy clubs looked at merging.
mkfc have 28 or so on the books, thats quality footballing numbers. (in my opinion thats the sort of figure you need to work with, many more players lose interest, less you cant cover injuries.) unfortunately about 18 of them are unavailable.

B Grade comp will never fold. The RFL clubs field 5 teams each week and if it wasn't for the RFL, the Indies would be in a lot of financial trouble. They are looked after pretty well from funds made by the big 6 I'd say.

People who make these sort of comments generally have had minimal involvement with the Indy comp and are fairly myopic in what the competition represents to the area.

I grew up in Cobby and also played for them. My brother coached an independent team and my father won a league medal whilst playing for one. what's your point??

Sorry but that is just a ridiculous statement. I understand from your run down of history in the league you know something about footy but have you been to Indies games recently? Sorry but it sounds like someone commenting from the outside with little idea of the current situation – I may be wrong here.
Having played at BSR in the last years of Mid Murray I can tell you this comp is a long way from what was happening in those days – 4 team comp with Morgan being a bit of a joke is what you call a league that’s not viable. I remember a day v Morgan when we still didn’t know if there would be a game 1 hour out from the scheduled start time! And that was playing with 15 a side. Look at the Indies now and this comp is a long way from this, yes clubs struggle for numbers and there are some very one sided games but I still see it as a very healthy comp. other than BSR, Paringa and Ramco at the top, any other side could win on their day – recent results have shown this just look at Brown’s Well lately after not being able to win a game at the start of the year – one of the toughest games we have played all year was against them. While the top 3 teams are dominating at the moment take a few players out of each side and they come back to the pack fairly quickly.
I can’t believe people are so quick to say lets fold the comp. Where would any of these sides go? What would then happen to all these clubs which people like Big Sexy have worked so hard to keep alive? Until we get down to 4 sides left with teams forfeiting regularly I don’t even think folding should be mentioned. Perhaps Big Sexy’s idea of clubs merging is what needs to be looked at and even then only as a last resort – at least this keeps these clubs alive in some way.
Good luck Big Sexy – hope this forfeit brings attention to your situation and gives the motivation for past players or new guys to pull the boots on.

Well said, BOM.
The more blokes pulling on footy boots across the region, the better.
If an Indy club shuts down, very few of the players will flow back to the 'Big Six' - they'll just walk away from the game. No region can afford that.

The condition I was in at that stage of the day, would only hinder the Demons chances of recruiting someone. For starters, I doubt the players would have understood a word I said, even if i was scouting (which I can assure you I wasn't). Lost my brand new phone at the club, so if any of you boys found one, feel free to send it c/- the footy club.

I'm looking forward to seeing if Snoop decides to tag Craig Griffiths this week or if he lets Griffiths roam free for the entire match ;)

I have seen that before.
I reckon in 98, Kev Madden sent his runner at the time out to tag the opposition's runner as he was being a pest.

The Griffo situation's been brought up several times this season, hasn't it? It's an interesting one. Is it any different to an assistant coach being the runner?

Several times and a few texts to the editor in a certain paper. It doesnt seem to be a problem for any other runner, I think its only been one as it is Griffo. I wonder if there would be a problem if he wasnt a co-coach?

Or is the problem not so much that he's the co-coach but that he's spending so much time on the field?

I heard there'd be one upset when the Brown's Well coach moves Brad Perry to the back pocket this week.

You can still kick goals from the back pocket. Although pretty hard to do that during the bye!! haha!
