It's time people started naming names and these drop kicks get suspended for off the ball incidents more regularly.

When was the last time Unley won a premiership? You've been in Div 4 for about 10yrs. You've had to marry up with a school to have any sort of success. Well done.

Definatly thought the unley vs hectorville game, was what you go to the footy to see. All the crap about cheap shots etc aside, i thought that in the last quarter it was anyones game, with only a few points separating the teams. Was good for the Hectorville boys to rebound after the scotch game with a more competetive performance and i think unley will rebound after a scare and may need to do some work with their midfield, especially at the centre bounces.

However for me im tipping scotch next week, seemed like a much more dangerous side, especially with how they play their home deck..

Yeah, 0.8 for James O, but he had plenty of friends!

Salisbury West are a very young side! Play the most distinctive style of all the teams in D4, probably the only side with a clear game plan, they chip and run but with hardly anyone over 6 foot they don't have much choice. The umps did a good job overall.

Is there still a Club Championship? Obviously I only ask because we are travelling alright, there is no ladder on sporting pulse.

Agreed. Having seen everyone now, I think SW are the best side in the comp. Easily the most disciplined side; very well organised and structured. Will be hard to beat come finals time.

I've seen alot on this forum but this takes the cake. Unley clearly have the best for and against and from what I have seen... and heard.. They are in my eyes and the eyes of many many others, the best side in this comp. And their depth is endless aswell.

I have been involved with the Unley Cricket Club and watched the Jets build the club over the last few years. They have worked hard and got some good people in place and IMO would be around where they are now with or without MOS. I am sure with the college they have added overall depth to the club but didn't the B and C grade win flags last years and A grade play finals? Would not be surprised to see them move up a few grades in the next few years.

Spot on.

We are starting to reap the reards of a strong junior program on and off field. The committee demonstrates this as it is basically made up up of parents who have progressed with their kids through the juniors and now play senior football.

The Mercedes connection has added depth to the lower grades this year and will hopefully continue to strengthen the club and the A grade in years to come.

Yes, Unley have a better for and against, but that means nothing come finals time; and not that much right now, anyway. What you're saying is, that because they have scored just over a goal a game more than any other side, and conceded just over a goal a game less than any other side, that they're the best team? Yep, good one. Salisbury West beat Heccies by twice the amount that Unley did, does that mean they're twice as good? And it's all good to have a solid 30 players in your squad, but that isn't going to help if the other side has a better 21 on the park. When Heccies played SW they were in complete control for the majority of the game. There were plenty of stages when the hounds couldn't touch the footy and had no influence at all. A couple of late goals made the scoreboard more respectable. The Unley game, however, was a pretty even contest throughout the day. Not sure what happened to SW when they played the Jets, but everyone has a bad day (Scotch vs. Heccies comes to mind). SW had the best skills of any side I've seen and, as I said before, are very well drilled - far better than Unley, from what I saw.

This banter is laughable...

Finally this is actually laughable, Unley FB giving away a free kick 15m out for 'kneeing' the heccies player in a ruck contest.. Unley player leaped early caught our ruckman unaware and got him a good one, totally legal..
free kick paid...

Even more of a worry, is that I also just saw that Trevor Bruce was named in the 2's as well

It's Trevor's come back year after spending 5 years out of the game.

Be told Jason Harland is to play a C grade game this week, should be good to watch for a laugh. Someone talk the guy into playing A grade ffs! Especially when he could replace Jimmy up forward etc. Did he retire last year and just playing C's for a few games?

Thats why I chose my words carefully. I think you will notice I said most clubs with "intentions". Anyway this is a div 4 thread so anyone carrying on about someone else's supposed success over one another, were in the same div for a reason...

As for marrying up with Mercedes, we were on the rise previous to this year and we have probably only gained 1-2 A grade players from the merger. Thats not many, I'm sure every club has similar or greater numbers of recruits.

Some photos of the Jets v Heccies game were uploaded on the Jets facebook page.

Some good banter in the photo when our boy #24 is, true to form, elbowing a bloke on the ground in the face.

Moving on; massive game this weekend. I rate Scotch as the best team in the comp, on their day they have the most dangerous players. GG more consistent and probably a better 'team', but Scotch have the most guns.

Jimmy... why wouldn't they be 0 points?

Because they have to had played 25 games for the school - simply attending the school doesn't grant them 0 points
