4-5 decent crowds a year for cricket, no wonder they are happy  Good value for a $500,000,000+ investment :? Good move not to go ahead with QE hospital re development

About SA hospitals:
I heard privately recently from relatives of the man about a recent case where a chap in the Salisbury area waited 40 minutes for an ambulance to take him from Salisbury to the Lyell McEwin, then was sent home about 4am by taxi in his hospital gown after several hours in Emergency.

When the severe pain returned he called another ambulance and the ambulance driver disputed he needed one as he had been sent home in a taxi.
In the end he was taken back to the Lyell McEwin, who tried to get him sent straight on to the RAH by the same ambulance.
However, the driver said he was due for his break and drove off.

The man was subsequently transferred to the RAH by another ambulance where he has had by-pass surgery to put a stent in to reinforce the tear in his Aorta.
Had the tear ruptured he could have bled to death in seconds!

There are several things that worry me about this:
1. Why did the first ambulance take so long - was it "ramped" until another emergency patient could be unloaded?
2. Why was he ever sent home and not kept in for observation given the history and type of pain suggested an Aortic dissection was possible?
3. Why did the ambulance driver behave the way he did?

This mob is pretty embarrassing:

Would it be the Liberal party paying for this type of stunt, or would it be as part of their allowance.

The woman who dared to ask Isobel Redmond that question has been pressured by her council to apologise

I don't think the council should do that, and I don't think Isobel Redmond would think they should either.
It sounds like a matter of bureaucrats swinging their weight around where they can, because they can, and the media paying too much attention to their pettiness.
I dealt with a few of them in my public health service days.

In the case of any discrimination, I do think solutions other than going to court create a better outcome, as otherwise the hostility intensifies.
But the option should be there as a final resort, if more subtle and less confronting solutions don't work.

That applied in my experience of treating WorkCover claimants in the 1990s too.
Once it became lawyers at twenty paces there was no give on either side and the worker ultimately had to leave with their lump sum where they would have been better of with earlier treatment and retaining the job if it could be achieved via case conferencing - often treatment was delayed by the legal wrangling and permanent disability tended to result from the delay.

Thinking about it, the same principle applies to marriage break ups.
I'm glad my first wife and I struck a deal without involving lawyers, as I think we both came out of it better by being fair to each other rather than fighting over it.

I'm sure my employer wouldn't be happy if I said publicly I'd been discriminated against or sexually harassed at work and they knew nothing about it.
Of course, the posting of this sensational story is meant to put Redmond in a negative light because its all her fault and now she's got the poor woman in trouble.
Meanwhile, back at the wastelands.................

I recently heard Iain Evans presentation on the state of the state, and I attach a PDF version.
It certainly sounds like Adelaide is the Athens of the South in the modern EU style.

It can be ignored by those who want to preserve their illusions.
I've sent it to a couple of my former state ALP MP old schoolmates inviting them to point out any inaccuracies, please - no response so far.

On cue Psyber

DEPUTY Opposition Leader Mitch Williams has lost a party-room vote to appoint delegates for the Liberal state council.

The state Liberal party room on Monday elected five delegates to the state council - including up-and-coming frontbencher Steven Marshall and former leader Martin Hamilton-Smith, it can be revealed.

The party room overwhelmingly rebuffed a nomination from Mr Williams, who is facing increasing pressure over his performance as deputy leader and speculation that he will be replaced before the state election.

Ten Lower House Liberal MPs nominated for the five available spots on the state council, a powerful governing body involved in selecting candidates for the federal Senate and state Upper House.

Mr Hamilton-Smith won 14 of a possible 18 votes, as did Opposition education spokesman David Pisoni and former deputy leader Steven Griffiths.

Backbencher Tim Whetstone and Mr Marshall were also appointed.

Mr Williams' bid failed on just seven votes. Opposition treasury spokesman Iain Evans achieved the same number.

One Liberal source told The Advertiser the rejection was a clear sign "the party room has completely lost confidence" in Mr Williams and sent a strong message to Opposition Leader Isobel Redmond.

Is this a ******* joke, or what?

The Liberal Party leaders in South Australia have to work pretty bloody hard to make the government look even midly attractive to voters. They're doing a good job.

The Liberal who? You may ask.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

One Liberal source = anyone being liberal with their opinion.
Having just been through an "event" reported by The Advertiser, I have great doubts about the quotes, and there is a major probability that the "Liberal source" is his own thoughts thundering in the dunny one morning.
