Distance and weather, in combination with limited excitement about state games other than SOO, kept me home.
I was surprised and somewhat disturbed to notice, flipping between them on TV, that the Port v GC game seemed to be more skilful than the state game.
That's a worry...

couldve gone and supported the opposite side

That would be very Un - South Australian, and then I guess you could also use the argument "f*** standing on Snouts Hill barracking for a team with the same colours as the Bays"

I remember the State Football Carnivals of yesteryear.

Ages ago, a distant memory.

Played over a long weekend at Adelaide Oval.

Tassie had a Tassie Island on the front of their jumper.

The Big White V with Big John Nicholls , WA with the Swan.

That was State Footy.

Something has been lost with the introduction of AFL.

We usually played Victoria in the Final, But not always.

One question on the guernsey SA wore.

Has the blue vee on the SA guernsey alway been the dark almost navy blue, i always thought it was more a royal blue like Centrals guernsey.

It was the dark / navy blue back in 2009 when over in WA but not sure about the years before that?

I think it may have changed after the 2006 game, looking at a pciture in the Footy Budget...

It used to be the lighter royal blue, but since the poofs at the crows hijacked the state colours and made it the darker navy blue it seems that's what we have to wear.

I like the Crows - we always get an easy match over here

Didn't go coz I didn't care.
Plus it was at Glenelg
If it was at a proper footy oval, I might have thought about it, and then not gone

If less than 3000 suburbanites rocked up maybe its time to push this game out to the grass roots bush market. Clare Oval, Port Pirie's Memorial Oval, Port Augusta, Berri, Mount Gambier, Whyalla etc could all cater to it and locals would probably turn up in droves. What is there to lose?

Fair question, would've got easy 5000+ at any ADL hills ground.

We regularly get 3000 to 5000 at our gf's up here in Northern Areas and twice in the last ten years we have had 7000+

Normal League game entry prices and Yes you park on the surrounding Streets.

I normally play golf most Saturday mornings and it was bloody cold yesterday. I didn't fancy spending the afternoon in it either especially near the beach. Went to watch a SAAFL game in the eastern suburbs and returned home at half time of that as I was too cold. Watched the 2nd half of the SA v WA game on the telly instead.
