carey18 wrote:Yeah we go beat by about 5 or 6 goals but unlike last week a lot to take out of the game in the second half. very good signs when we get to no each others game a bit better. We could go down the murrayville way and pay out around $60,000 to put the team on the park for the season!. Hard to underestand all of this flying in players from queensland and all over the place just to win a flag? does that build club moral or do they just go to the highest bidder? Say what you want about the van but you cant bag the crowd around it!!!!!!!!

i think the margin was more like 40 points and damage was done by quarter time ,hard to win games when you play most of your team in defence .only makes for a strappy game especially when you play on peake oval.As for murrayvillie they have only one player who has not played for club before [pearson new school teacher ,who did not play on weekend]on there list and most players are ex locals who live in adelaide and love going home to play[wyatts ,cranes ,bailey etc].so i think you will find that it is the people in the town that atracts the players not money and thats while murrayville is sucessful.the queensland player you are refering to is dixon another player who missed playing for murrayville and his mates and is willing to fly back and be part of what he can see shaping up as a successful year [which will only probably be for a few games],he also did not play on weekend.Murrayville will only get better as season goes on as players get match fitter [had no trials]and players like Omalley and Hentscke and even the coach Rodgers get on to park.So if you think getting within 40 points of murrayville with them only playing quarter and a half at best of good football, good luck for the year because it is going to be some long trips in that van

carey18 wrote:So you dont fly a guy in from queensland every home game? .Our club has passion mate. How many of your A grade have come back this season after playing elsewhere last season? Show me the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2006
k wyatt =only played for murrayville whe one game left for work
fenoughty- broke ankle
s wyatt- did not play
r crane - only played handful of games for noarlunga [ did not enjoy ]
w dalwood and j vass -played two games while on school hoildays came back this year to play with mate [c sporn]
H rodgers -left after 3 years to follow good mate and coach steve sameuls and has come back to start coaching career
omalley - good mate of coach and was getting buckets more money with torrens valley ,he just loves the social life in mallee
dixon - did not play anywhere last year
most and including some from above are exlocals or locals
so i think you will find that most players left after win two flag and losing a grand final in three year and did not play much football elsewhere and have now come back to rebuild and get the club back to where it should be after 2006.this is what respect the players have for the club and people involed in it. not every thing is about money

I don't think there is any value bagging sides too much- Other than Lameroo all the other teams form does change depending on money spent each year. The standard of particular teams changes from year to year depending on the mass influx of players and who has been able to spend wisely- remember it was last year that Peake cleaned up Murrayville- now Peake have improved and while I have no doubt that Murrayville guys are locals they don't travel from Adelaide for nothing! It is fact that those Mallee teams have to spend $$-karoonda have been getting busloads for years- who spends it best this year will be seen!

you dont buy premierships you win them with hard work and commitment other wise sides like Karoonda , salisbury north etc with big cash flows would win more flags and if murrayvillie were spending 90000 a year on players the club would fold in no time ? have a think about it

This is my point- everyone has to pay money- the distance alone ensures that is the case- I found it just a bit harsh that you say Peake were pathetic and lack spirit. They have had it pretty tough and I know for a fact that they have worked pretty hard at improving this year. I think carey is only relaying a couple of stories that lots of people have heard (read Crowmunchers post) re the amount of coin Murrayville are paying- and whatever it is goodluck to them!!
By the way Crowie- won't be long b4 you are back on the Peake bashing wagon!

You are seriously dreaming if you think a club from the mallee league could support that type of coin.

hey crowmucher how about some names.... who told you $90,000...... I hope your not listening to the dreamer leaton huxtable??? That blokes got no idea!!

Commmon sense will tell you that a team from the malle league wouldn't be able to throw around that type of coin and survive!!!!!

But the thing about common sense is, it's not to common!
