Certainty to play Finals

Postby hearts on fire » Wed Apr 11, 2012 11:40 am

Pressures on the Crows, other night on Footy Classified spoke about the finals chances and were labelled a certainty to make them and now also on the AFL site.... I know in recent years they have apparently had an "easy" draw too and have failed to do make finals but will this year be different?

I know Crows fans are pretty confident so far, and i have predicted them to make finals, but is their draw an unfair advantage playing GWS and Gold Coast twice.... Is there any other teams with this advantage?

If they don't make finals this year, they are the biggest bunch of spuds going around. 4 gifted wins and surely will make up the difference to get a berth.
So you've seen everything have you?

Not a certainty, but they should finish in the top 6. Not just on the back of their draw mind you but more to do with the style the coach has his cattle playing.

Spot on Boon.
I'd be surprised if they don't finish top 6.

What do you expect. Get a Cat in charge and it's instant gunnage. Clearly Neeld has been tainted by the Pie environment and likewise McCartney at Essendon.

I don't think Crows are guaranteed. Might have a soft draw but they have plenty of competition.

In my opinion Geelong Collingwood Hawthorn West Coast are guaranteed

then fighting it out for the remaining four positions

- Carlton Sydney FremantleSt.Kilda Adelaide Kangaroo's Essendon Bulldogs

would need a miracle - GC GWS Melbourne Brisbane Port Rich

No such thing as a certainty in sport but you would think the crows should play finals as it stands today. A few injuries at poor times could quickly change all of this

Did a rough ladder predictor and came up with this order;

Geelong
Collingwood
West Coast
Carlton
Hawthorn
Fremantle
St Kilda
Sydney

Adelaide
North Melbourne
Essendon
Port Adelaide
Richmond
Bulldogs
Lions
Melbourne
Gold Coast
GWS

It's funny that people from certain clubs are now spitting the dummy about another teams draw and how unfair it is. The same clubs loaded up on unfair father/son draft picks, the same clubs tanked on the bottom of the ladder to gain priority draft picks, the same clubs benefit from a fixture that hardly sees them leave Melbourne, the same clubs benefited from the good old MCG finals clause that saw them host finals they never deserved, the same clubs benefit from the exposure of stand alone games at prime times, the same clubs get away with flouting Extra Player Payment deals via their President, etc, etc.
Then they see another team getting something they want and they throw a 4yo's tantrum. Give me a break.

I assume you mean Geelong? They used the rules that were in. The AFL should've rightly predicted so many Geelong footballers would produce excellent sons, and changed the rule before they bred...

the same clubs tanked on the bottom of the ladder to gain priority draft picks

St Kilda, Hawthorn, Essendon, Collingwood, Carlton, Melbourne, Richmond which one? Can't recall any of those clubs having too many father/sons

the same clubs benefit from a fixture that hardly sees them leave Melbourne

Which club you referring too here? Collingwood I gather? They play away 5 times, same as Carlton and Essendon, 1 less then Geelong, Hawthorn play away 3 times not including their "home" games in Tassie

the same clubs benefited from the good old MCG finals clause that saw them host finals they never deserved,

This happened to Carlton, and they were lucky they got it. Can't recall it happening other times. Care to fill us in.

the same clubs benefit from the exposure of stand alone games at prime times

Is that the clubs fault or the AFL's?

the same clubs get away with flouting Extra Player Payment deals via their President, etc, etc.

This applies to over 110 current players, it's not a one off....

Then they see another team getting something they want and they throw a 4yo's tantrum. Give me a break.

Which clubs have thrown a tantrum?

Talking in a general manner, not saying that all of that applies to one club, even when most non Victorian clubs were in the top 8 the Victorian clubs were all whining even though everything was still loaded in their favour. Fathead Maguire has come out complaining that clubs that play GWS & GC twice in one season get an unfair advantage.
HELLOOOO. What the F has been happening to the benefit of Victorian clubs since the inception of the AFL?
The fixture is so bastardized and prostituted its beyond a joke. I don't think any Victorian clubs or their supporters that have benefited for so long have any real right to complain. Just because these things have happened under the guide lines or "rules" of the day it doesn't make it right.

The crows had the easiest draw in the past two seasons apparently and only won 16 games over those two seasons.

this shows your never certain to make the finals no matter how easy the draw looks.

Out of interest Cutterman, which AFL team do you support?
