No need to be snide about it Bully - I just stated the scientific conclusions about climate change and backed it up with some evidence.Bully wrote: science has only been around since homo sapiens have been on this earth. Im not sure when a scientist was around when the dinosars romed the earth professor fish.
If you read my post correctly, you will see i have clearly stated BOTH sides of the story. You seem to know everything there professor fish

Please give us a link and I'll have a look.heater31 wrote:my source is from a TV Documentary that stated if too much carbon dioxide is removed it will trigger an 'ice age' if this cooling reaches a certain latitude (somewhere below where Spain currently is) it will be come unstoppable.fish wrote:Heater I'm also waiting for something from you...fish wrote:H31 if you have any scientific analysis that suggests that taking action on climate change may trigger an ice age please post it - I'd be interested to have a look at it...heater31 wrote:If we go to far the other way we could start an ice age that would be unstoppable and then what?
So my solution is to plant a few million trees and she'll be apples

The field of Palaeoclimatology (the history of climate) is an invaluable field of study as it teaches us about what has caused changes in our climate and atmosphere over the life of the earth - and it goes back further than 60 million years.Bully wrote:Science has only been around since homo sapiens have been on this earth. Please explain to me when if the earth has or hasnt done this same heating up 60 million years ago????? NO ONE KNOWS!!!!
yet....if we are the 100% real causes of the heating up of this earth and dont do anything, then we will be in trouble as i clearly stated in my recent post

Short term temperatures may vary markedly but the longer term trend is beyong dispute:

Based on the long term record and my discussions with the guys at the Uni of Adelaide's Environment Institute, I'd go as far as "cannot be explained by natural causes alone" and "the natural peak due now is added to by the build up in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere caused by human activity."fish wrote:The field of Palaeoclimatology (the history of climate) is an invaluable field of study as it teaches us about what has caused changes in our climate and atmosphere over the life of the earth - and it goes back further than 60 million years.
Through Palaeoclimatology climate scientists have learnt more about the role of greenhouse gases in heating the planet and about what natural causes affect the climate.
This knowledge, along with other fields such as physics and thermodynamics, has enabled climate scientists to conclude that the current warming cannot be explained by natural causes but that it is primarily caused by the build up in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere caused by human activity.

Agreed Psyber. Although on that last bit the CSIRO says: It is very likely that most of the surface global warming observed since the mid 20th century is due to anthropogenic increases in greenhouse gases.Psyber wrote:Based on the long term record and my discussions with the guys at the Uni of Adelaide's Environment Institute, I'd go as far as "cannot be explained by natural causes alone" and "the natural peak due now is added to by the build up in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere caused by human activity."fish wrote:The field of Palaeoclimatology (the history of climate) is an invaluable field of study as it teaches us about what has caused changes in our climate and atmosphere over the life of the earth - and it goes back further than 60 million years.

At this stage in the natural cycles of solar activity when a peak is to be expected, I don;t think you can reasonably dismiss natural causes completely, and cannot, therefore, reasonably attribute all the current situation to human activity.
