A bit of poor form in Div 2 today, with a player referring to a junior opposition player as a c***. It was a direct reference to the 16 yo, not something which was said "into the air".
I bring it up because it was so far out of line and out of context that it goes very close to being reportable, and is not something any club would condone. We need to look out for the young blokes in our own and other clubs. I've got no problems with a bit of chatter from the field to try and unsettle an inexperienced player, but come on fellas - this one's just not on.

The umpire can report the player for the language but only if he heard it.
How old was the player who made the comment?

Yeah definatly 50/50 game.

Looking at the forecast would expect the outfield to quicken up a fair bit considering we are expecting dry hot weather.

Thought we bowled really really well today, had lots of plays and misses, a couple of drop catches plus a clear caught behind off Dobbo given not out when he hadnt scored yet.

Craigmore first team we have played this year willing to get in behind the ball and build innings and bat in partnerships.

Would like to think we will chase the runs down. Runs on the board are worth alot though.

Not sure about the oval getting quicker has been slowish for over a year now and grass is thick, council don't cut it short.
Spoke with Dobbo and he didnt think he hit it and if he dis he would of walked.
Thought M Freeman was the pick of your bowlers and looks like he has picked up a yard of pace.

Ok but yeah he hit it no doubt massive nick, he even had that smile on his face when we spoke to him.

BUT

we had an official umpire and at no stage would i expect him to walk. The umpire is paid to be there and paid to ajudicate.

Yeah Mozza was without doubt the pick and yeah and he has picked up a yard of pace but tbh its not about pace with Mozza, since i have been back at the club his been half a yard to short today he bowled great lengths.

Also Danny Masefield bowled really well and bowled in partnerships

Mozza did bowl well of what I saw, openers were going along steadily before he got a couple quickly. Franky bowled very well in his opening spell, got the ball in some dangerous areas!

Super and I both heard a noise from that Dobbo incident, sounded woody, however the umpire is there to make the decision so dont blame him for not walking if he did hit it.

From here I would expect EPFC to win easily, if they can handle Al Hewitt they should pass the score comfortably.

Agree and not one EP bloke questioned him for not walking. When you have official umpires you take the good with the bad as imho there is not one umpire that i have seen on purposely cheats.

Ain't that the truth, not many batsmen walk after all they get bad decisions their way too.

Hey Masha remember that day a CCC batsman nicked 2 behind and Merlin gave him not out both times, sometimes they go your way sometimes they don't.
That batsman must of looked like Sibbs that day!!! ;)

Well while everyone is on the subject of umpiring decisions... Wow did coxy have a shocker today or what! In the sals north v goats game there was 4 terrible decisions. Danny Stevens bats a metre out of his crease, leaves a ball which hits him on the upper thigh. Most on here know Danny is taller than most... Coxy gives him lbw after probably only 2 people half appealed.
Then to follow up, 2 one tree hill batsmen nicked through to the keeper. Not just faint nicks, these could be heard from the boundary clearly. Then there was an obvious glove through to the keeper all given not out... Incredible umpiring.
The game however sits in the balance with the billies making 130 and sals west are 3 for 20ish

No doubt??? Mmmmm....if the batsman in question, the non striker and the umpire amongst one or two others didnt hear anything then dont see how there can be no doubt he hit it! Spoke to Dob who i know very very well and is an honest bloke and he said he didnt hear or feel anything. Anyway, at the end of the day we felt like we could have been rolled for 150 at one stage but then again were in a position to muster 200 on a slow outfield so both teams will feel like they are in with a real sniff.

So true about the score, i think both sides feel they could have done about 20 runs better but also feel they could have done another 20 runs worse as well.

Was crucial our openers got through that real tricky 6 overs at the end! The game is set up perfectly next week 50/50

Smithfield all out for 220
Angle Vale 2 for 70 odd at stumps

Another lazy 82 for Mr Hannun, makes it an even 200 runs in the last fortnight
Nobody has gotten a hand job in cargo shorts since 'Nam!

That fella didnt just nick it behind...but Banksy caught it infront of 2nd slip!!! :)

But yes, sometimes it goes your way, other times it doesnt.

Sibbs was fortunate twice last year...turns out in the biggest games....SF and GF!!!

The great man Grant "Grunter Rowdy" Richardson made a stunning return to cricket yesterday in the C Grade!

Taking 4 for stuff all turning back the clock to the 'good old days' wasnt enough for the legend he then went and top scored hitting 30 odd out of 74 which was enough to take first inning points by 1 run.

Watch this bloke rise through the grades. ;)

HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS BACK and bowling as quick as ever.

A typo there in my post - it was in Div 5, so no official umpire. The player making the comment could easily be classed as an adult and certainly was older than the colt. It wasn't a case of a couple of young pups going at each other , although even if it was, the skippers should be pulling them up. I'd like to think the game should still retain an element of decorum.

Agree the outfield was very slow, imho though it will only get quicker with the dry weather expected during the week. Still wont be quick but definatly quicker.

Game 50/50 for me, runs on the board count for something dont they!

Agree runs on the board are valuable but will be a big challenge for our bowlers.
The oval definately doesnt get mowed as short or as often as it used to.
