The SANFL is getting very boring. IMO, full time coaches trying to implement full time game plans with part time players means that there is lots of strategy and not much logic being used.

The past three games I've watched of SANFL finals footy would have to be the worst exhibition of football SA has produced for ages.

Anyone who thinks that this style of football is better than the AFL is kidding themselves.

Could that be why Roy is so successful? Uncomplicated, with no eye to a future job in the AFL?

What have the past few preliminary final crowds been like?

From an outside point of view Bassett didnt recruit and then failed to make the changes to suit the squad.

Not having Pupoplo and Duigan was a huge amount of run, carry and pace to lose from the defensive 50, none of the recruits were ultra quick or attacking defenders in the same mould.

What i saw in the second semi was that the game plan hadn't adjusted and the difference this year was while they were chipping around in the back half they didnt have that explosive player willing to break the lines and play on as Pup and Duigan did last year.

Either he had to recruit to the structure or change the structure to suit the squad he had.

He recruited, just hard to cover the quality that he lost. Honestly, I didn't give Norwood a chance of making the 5 this year!

Its up to the other 8 clubs to take it up to Centrals...so far we have all failed.

As someone who spruiks the crowds I will say my piece.

Today' crowd very disapointing given same teams, same ground, good weather and yet 1800 less.

Long weekend may have been a factor but who turned up last year yet didn't come along in 2011?

As for the final series we are yet to have a game that really captures the imagination and gets people talking

Having South's season ended and Centrals drominating last weekend was probably the worst combination for the prelim matchup becoming a major talking point in AFL GF week.

Only highlights are if you are a South supporter (making and winning a final)
or an Eagles fan (getting back to the GF after 5 seasons)

Central fans only care about 1 game & that is next week, eveyone else would feel disapointed.

Last year we were blessed with a great prelim and the best GF in a decade.

In 2008 & 09 we saw some great Central wins in the finals from difficult positions.

Maybe this year's relatively boring series is the trade off.

Perhaps not quite to the same extent as Puopolo, Luke Brown was pretty handy in the role for most of the season until it was decided he was needed up the front late in the year .. I know playing numbers behind the ball can mask some deficiencies at the back, but I thought that was the area of least concern for us - The midfield and up forward were badly exposed.
