But against what sort of opposition..?
The standard of the game today was terrible..
Okay - you can only beat who's put in front of you, but can you really say that Centrals dominance over the last decade can compare to Sturt's in the 60s, or Port's in the 50s, 80s and 90s?

Don't like criticism on a "Centrals supporters pulling themselves" thread???

Staggering ... and the way they demolished Norwood today ... just staggering.

Your argument is flawed.. How does any of that make Centrals achivements better?
And don't start talking about salary cap - Centrals have been rorting it for years, and then crying poverty when it comes to buying light bulbs for their light towers..
The SANFL is a weak competition now - when the competition was strong - 60's - 1990, Centrals couldn't win a meat raffle.
Now all of a sudden Port Magpies, Sturt, Norwood etc are financially weaker, have suffered a massive player drain over the last 20 years, and only now Centrals have dominated.
Don't go thinking you're better than any of those great era's past - you're playing in a second / third tier feeder competition, with substandard quality of player and opposition.

Your record in preliminary finals is average though, can't win one to save your lives.

Groundhog Day, this arguement has been used every year and has proved to be without substance.
Dogs as a club have proven to be the best in the history of SANFL in regards to domination of an era in SANFL
Quality of competion has nothing to with it, as I'm sure this era would have beaten quite soundly eras pre 1960.

The quality of the competition has EVERYTHING to do with it.
Who were Centrals beating in the 70s and 80s??
Themselves maybe, but no one else.

Exactly. Amazing how people seem to forget we were a decent side for a long time before 2000. I suspect people remember our finals record throughout that time and assume it was our overall record. If we were as bad as some would like to think, we'd have rarely made the finals and won several spoons. We've only ever won 2 spoons, one in our very first year!
Regardless, if it's a question of domination then no other side has dominated to the extent we have over the last 12 years. The standard or opposition are irrelevant because it's not a question of how good you are, but how much better you are. It seems some people just don't know what the word domination means.
