Coming from the country i don't get the opportunity to see the legs live in action. I watch the ABC broadcast as much as possible and it looks like the Legs are doing OK. It looks like their ball movement is better than most in the Comp and they seem to be well drilled in defense and attack. What are the likely weaknesses that will prevent a win against the more experienced Dogs assuming the Dogs are the team they would meet in the GF

Belief, confidence, ability to execute under pressure/duress .. The Dogs have owned these categories for years.

I think the dogs have an advantage with midfield depth, the legs have a few really top line midfielders but the 4th-8th midfielders are probably where they might get found out a little. I still also have a query over the forward line. I'm not sure who there is going to really worry the dogs defense, which is where Jericho will likely provide a boost. The legs I think have a more settled defense themselves but who takes Havelberg will be a critical decision. Also whether Norwood can get a definitive advantage in ruck could prove crucual. Having a bit less depth (IMHO of course) I think Norwood would need a strong ruck win to nullify that. If Sutherland and Hannath can break even with Doyle, Dawe and Rowe in those ruck duels or better I think the supply will prove too great.

But the pressure and ability to execute, as JK rightly points out, will be vital. In round 22 the dogs not only applied better pressure for longer but executed under pressure better. If Norwood concede such an advantage in that aspect again it likely won't matter what edge Norwood can muster in the areas I've mentioned above.

From what i have seen the legs have what it takes to get the job done. I think if the confidence is there early and if the pressure is maintained for the 4 quarters they/we might surprise some. I have a feeling that Bassett still has some tricks up his sleeve and that their preparation over the last couple of weeks has been working towards a big finish. The performance on the weekend against the Eagles showed their switched on and ready. I have respect for the Dogs for what they have achieved over the Past Decade but i think the time has come for a team to bring the comp forward into a new era. It always takes loosing a GF to make you more hungry.

If their is one thing that may work in our favor i think that maybe the Doggies may just take the intimidation factor a little to far and it could work against them.

This Sunday will give us more of an idea of where they are both at.

Roy Laird is too good a coach to let that kind of thing get out of control. If the Gowans twins start getting undiscipline or anyone for that matter, the leadership on field will put them in their place pretty quickly and if that doesn't work, Roy isn't afraid of dragging blokes.

I've not yet seen the "intimidation factor" go against us. If anything it's when we aren't hard and aggressive that we've fallen away a little. And no doubt Bassett is aiming for a big finish. Just like Godden and Laird are doing, so that won't be an advantage as such. If he's doing it better then perhaps, but it's not an isolated mentality.

Not sure that that has happened in recent times. Four of the six teams we have beaten in Grand Finals during this run have dropped away badly after the Grand Final (West, North, Glenelg and Sturt). The Eagles had been the only team able to keep that hunger alive. Well done to Norwood for at least being the second team to do this.
Cheers

Going on the game yesterday Norwood will now struggle to make the GF. The Bulldogs are currently on target to take home the silverware again in 2011. Id love to say otherwise but realism sets in after seeing both teams up against each other. You could say injuries were the problem but i think they wouldn't have changed the outcome by much. As long as the Legs can learn from this and develop further during next season maybe 2012 will prove to be better.

Well given we are yet to miss the finals since 2008 I'm not sure you can say we've fallen away badly. Eagles have missed a finals series since they last played a GF.

That said we aren't happy with were we are at. Fallen away yes, fallen away badly nup.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!
