Why wouldn't they?
If catering to that perception allows them to have night footy against Port, Norwood, Sturt or North and getting a few thousand extra people through the gates every year as opposed to not catering to that perception giving them no night footy.
Glenelg aren't in the business to improve the perception of Central supporters, they're in the business to get more people to Glenelg Oval.
I don't even think Central are even worried about trying to improve the perception of Central supporters so why should Glenelg?
I perceive that all as common sense by Glenelg.

And as for further ammo like someone said, give me a break.
I could just imagine the Bays and Central in another Grand Final.

Night footy at the Bay?

Your imagination is running wild. No way the Gowans will play in another CD v Gl GF. Next time the dogs play at the bay, there may be some extra motivation.

Night games at the Bay...pfftttt!! Don't want to go anyway!!!

The few times I have been down there to support Centrals their supporters have been more interested in sub standard socio-economic related "jokes" than watching the footy, so no harm done there! Just because we're passionate fans doesn't mean we're a bunch of misbehaving criminals

Go you Dogs, and to be honest I don't want Glenelg to play day games at Elizabeth, we always seem to do better at the garage door oval!!!

LMAO at the reaction to Candice Kellers article on here. Seems it is not OK for Rob Nelson to talk about the perception of Centrals supporters but it is OK for Kris Grant to talk about the perception (be directly quoted in her article)???

FFS Nelson has said it is merely perception and nothing has ever occured at the Bay oval to justify that perception but in order to appease a minority sow e can get night footy at the Bay he gets castigated for it.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

If this article was written about any other teams supporters those supporters would have the same reaction. Everyone sticks up for their team and has a go at others. It's always going to be that way.

Look what happened when Jai Bednall dared to say that the singing of the song by Glenelg was embarrassing. Glenelg supporters got all defensive and even Rob Nelson had a sook.

perhaps the bays should worry about creating the perception of a competitive team that plays decent football worth watching than worrying about the perception of other clubs supporters
FWIW, in 35 years of attending SANFL games at all grounds, my personal perception is that norwood and port supporters are the most "unsociable", although port supporters have seemed a little quieter lately( I am sure they will fix that saturday now!!)

That's because Norwood fans come from greener leaf suburbs and are snobs blah, blah, blah.

FWIW, I love going to the Ponderosa to see Nwd vs Centrals, its a great viewing ground and if you can't see the banter as just that, and have a good laugh at and with each other, then you are tightly wound up and shouldn't be at the football anyway.

Cheers,

I should have qualified that given the obvious sensitivities of some, it is a very small minority of "unsociable" supporters that can turn a very enjoyable day/night at the footy into an unpleasant experience, although the small minority seem to be out in larger numbers at the parade after night games( and I attend many neutral games there also, so it is not we Central supporters that are the common thread)

Agreed - we've had night games at Richmond an Noarlunga this year with zero problems (and the Richmond game was a bad loss). If the Glenelg Football Club are that narrow minded then they don't deserve night games.

Not saying it was either team but at Richmond there was trouble with flares and tyres being slashed.

From what I heard I thought the tyre slashing was a random attack from a local group of thugs with zero connection to either football club (though they probably picked that night so Centrals supporters would cop the blame).

that is correct brucetiki

Perhaps someone should point this out to Glenelg CEO & Skeletor.
Can't blame the Doggies Fans for the problems they already have done that way.
