Haydos is a star. Plenty of doubts have been cast over him before this World Cup. Some even suggested Watson should replace him at the top of the order. Not even in Shane Watson's wildests dreams could he do what Haydos is currently doing to the South African attack.

During the CB series people doubted whether he should open the batting at the World Cup then in NZ he scores the highest score ever by an Aussie in one dayers, then goes to the World Cup and scores the fastest 100 by an Aussie and fastest 100 in a World Cup. He didn't do it against a minnow either, he saved his best for the biggest game of the World Cup so far. Hopefully he can keep this up, a flying start by Haydos and Gilly will make us tough to beat.

Well having watched his knock the other night I'm happy in knowing those doubts were illfounded ... What an innings!!

HAYDEN deserves his spot and recognition for some marvellous
record breaking feats.
This is by no means detrimental but that fastest 100 ever was on
a primary school ground on a flat track.
He is the BEST flat track bully Ive seen playing cricket.

ROD Mr WATSON would need to play out of his skin to be as good as HAYDEN.
WATSON cant bludgeon an attack of that quality as does Matty.
But Matty cant bowl [as dosent HODGE] and thats why WATSON gets a game.
On seaming pitches WATSON could be as good as HAYDEN as an opener and
his bowling would be more venemous[As it was in India on seaming decks]

After that one dayer here in Adelaide a couple of months ago, I felt strongly that he had to go but he's certainly made me eat my words since with at least 3 100's, perhaps 4?

You predicted HAYDO as being a star and your judgement has been vindicated 2 innings in a row.
Just think if GILLY retires imagine a HAYDEN/WATSON opening combination
They batted once together and made 150 odd partnership.

Actually, I think Watson should have been opening with Hayden. In one dayers in the first 20 overs with fielding restrictions bonus wides and boundaries from bowlers straying down leg are gold, and what better way to get as many as possible than a left hand/right and opening combo. Then Gilchrist could come in down the order after Symonds and Hussey to smash a few sixes in the last 10 overs. I feel this would give us our best balance up the top, Watson still scores pretty quickly himself, but more by pushing singles and hitting the bad ones instead of just smashing everything, so I don't see us losing much there, and it saves Gilly for number 7

Mal you go on about Watson making that 201 in a Shield final. Maher made 223. 2 other guys (Love and Perren) made 150 plus. Yes it was a good effort but making a double ton does not mean you are deserving of a place in the Australian side. FFS Old made 6/900 hardly any demonds in the batting surface and hardly a lot of pressure on the batsmen knowing what a commanding position they were in.

Anyway answer to your question mal, he wasn't out he retired hurt. Surprise surprise. Would be a great shame if Australia lost the World Cup Final being only 9 wickets down with Watto unable to make it to the crease.
