Has Rucci run out of material?

Postby spell_check » Sun Jul 24, 2011 8:18 pm

It's been a quiet few days; perhaps there's nothing left to talk about after the salary cap rumours were debunked quick smart.
Do we give him some red herrings, or just wait to rehash some of the "SANFL clubs are sucking the Crows and Power dry" lines?

Gave CD a fair workover on Friday re transperancy of club financials ... the only thing that will save his full focus on trashing the SANFL brand is if the Crows and Power keep dishing up efforts like Adelaide's last Friday nights.

I didn't read the article as I don't buy the paper but I did hear him say it was all sourced from CD documentation and was saying something about their spend on seminars and the figure did seem excessive.

Yes, and as per 99% of Rucci's crap, he either didn't check his basic facts or "chose" to deliberately leave them out of his trashy article (as is his way). The rubbish he referred to was adddressed on the CDFC forum.

"The article in The Advertiser focussed on the 2008 Annual Report. In particular the expenses incurred by "seminars" ($778,196) and "publication costs" ($685,186). At the 2008 AGM the club released another document for members stating that these classifications were incorrect and that those figures should have been attributed to other expenses notably "other direct football costs*" (seminars being one small part of the football department) and "other fundraising costs*" (printing being one small part of marketing/fundraising). The error was corrected, transparency ensued and members accepted the Annual Report.
It's a pity the club didn't receive a phone call prior to the article appearing in The Advertiser otherwise it would have been easily explained as it was to members at the AGM.
* as used in the 2010 Annual Report.

He calls himself a journalist. Surely there is some journalistic code of ethics, that he continually breaks. I already addressed his idiotic statement about not losing players, even faced with salary cap pressure - I actually counted about fifteen.

Hopefully, pretty soon he gets sued for all he's worth. Then p*** him off back to Italy.

I must confess, I only know what is said on here; I may glance at the Ragvertiser, and look at the Local Footy part of Adelaide Now. I don't listen to him, for sure.

That's a bit harsh. Italians over there would distance themselves from him, big time. Better to send him back to New York where he spent 5 years perfecting his art of writing crap

It would be good if it were that simple. Unfortunately the readership of the Advertiser is significantly larger than that of safooty.net. So the damage to a club or a competition is much greater. People believe a lot of what they read, without investigation. Unfortunately what they don't read is the facts he chooses to ignore.
