B grade game between SMOSH and Golden Grove was a great game, close, hard at it and good skills. After SMOSH got off to a 5 goal to 2 first quarter we slowly picked up the pressure and worked our way back into the game despite som baffling umpiring decisions. In the end we got up by a couple of goals to hand SMOSH their first defeat and show me how well we can play when we are up. Shame our inconsistency is a killer and we have a good week followed by a crap one but I guess u get that with young lads. Good game all round though...
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Yesterdays game was interesting. During the last quarter Pooraka were up by a goal and looking like winning by having all the run of the play. But like most of the day undiscipline acts..........25m penalties over 10 at least, yellow card to their captain which was poor and number 11 getting a red card in the third quarter who i believe was their best player up until then.

I heard today umpire decided he had made a mistake with giving number 11 the red card and withdrew the report at end of game? pretty bad mistake meant pooraka were a man down in last qtr that they shouldnt have been.

Funny you say that mate, because when we played them a few weeks back, i thought they played right on the edge of being undisciplined too - they pushed things right to the limit with behind-the-play stuff and niggle in packs. They especially targetted Birdy and Prior that day. They were very, very good against us, but i just get the feeling that the way they play might bite them on the bum with more experienced umpires come finals time.

BTW, Mitcham top, Portland 2nd on the ladder...im salivating ! ;)

#11 was the difference in the first half, we couldn't put a ball in our forward 50 without him having an impact. Wouldn't think much will come out of the tribunal hearing on Wednesday - wasn't heaps in either incident. Was a great win for us on Saturday with a few outs, but as I said - no one that has a real impact ;) This weeks game against SMOSH is obviously vital to our season, can be the difference between 1st and 4th come end of season.

Looking forward to round 17 Felch, should be a cracker as always and could very well be playing for top spot! :)

Will you have all your players back Hawky? If so a comfortable win coming up for yuz.

I see CBCOC are really struggling numbers wise having forfeited the Cs and kicking 1 goal in the Bs.

Your pretty well correct alot of off the ball incidents did happen which with better umpires wil get picked up on.
Just on them having one man down we had a red card too from the same incident so both playing with 17.
With our players NM possibly one or two changes i would imagine coming back into the team.

Just one of those weeks - there were a few unavailable due to various committments coupled with a some injuries and then getting let down at the last minute by some players who help out when we have a few outs - quite a few due back this week

considering we were missing 15+ players from the A,B,C's sides, getting the three wins is a great effort.

However HR, the return of 4 of the F5 will have a serious impact on multiple things... one of them being your spot in the side.

The 6 blokes that went to the snow  should be coming back through the "b" grade, can't change a winning side.

Portland way too good for us on the weekend. They did everything so much better than we did. Work rate was 10 times what ours was and there determination to get numbers around the footy and then run with it killed us. At best we maybe broke even for the 3rd quarter and some of the last but the game was well and truly over by then. Their first quarter was by far and away the best i have seen this year and to do it in the wet was even better. Congratulations and hopefully we can turn things around if we play you in the finals. A win is much needed against CBCOC this week, not only for our confidence but also to now stay in touch with Mitcham and Portland who have shown us in the past 3 weeks what standard of physical footy we need to be at if we are to go anywhere in finals this year.

yea think this is a pretty fair assesment of the weekends game our tackling pressure was as good as it has been all year, i think O'hara won the majority of boundary throw ins and around the ground throwups but i think Perkins and Vassali were dominant in the centre square giving our onballers first look. thought it was a bit strange to see Christie play at Full back for the first half on Thornton, i thought Flinders captain not sure of name but wore a helmet was great on Lippo and also number 9 and 17 were good.

also was at a henley establishment yesterday and noticed Portland and Smosh lads getting on very well i think there was talk of the teams merging and there home ground was going to be located at Pelican Point according to a few of the very intoxicated lads :D
