For me, "the jury is still out" on the three big rule changes of late...hands in the back, deliberate out of bounds, holding the ball (ruckman and when a player jumps on a loose ball).

Typical Centrals mid-season win - start out strong in the first, take the foot off the pedal in the second, then do enough in the third and fourth to get the win. Port, to their credit, gave Centrals a good run for their money and the win ended up being a bit more hard fought than what was expected. Not much else to say about the game really.

Give some credit to the opposition.

I don't think he's not giving credit to the opposition, NM. The stats shown by Scott reflect that a little.

Stats don't always show how good the opposition was.
The 2nd qtr he shows no respect to Port, pigs arse Centrals took the foot off the pedal.

For me it was borderline putting-on-the-jumper territory all day...walked to the ground with just jeans and a guernsey over the top of a t-shirt but during the match i'd put a jumper on, then take it off after 10 minutes...

yeah, I don't go for that "take the foot off the pedal" mularky. If players did that, the coach would rip new clackers in them! Port outscored Us because they played better. No Mercy, when you played, did you or your teammates ever take the foot off the pedal? Do you know ANY player/s that did? I don't think so, maybe at the end of the game, when you're 10 goals up with 5 minutes to go.

I wouldn't suggest that Bruce thinks it is deliberate.
More there's something going on within the side where they're drifting off in the second quarter. Seems they've been doing it for much of this season so far.

Just to highlight the bit No Mercy chose to ignore once again.

That's what I was getting at. Once Centrals get out to a 5-6 goal lead, they know what they need to do to get the result. We've already seen what happens when they take the foot off the pedal too far though with the results against Norwood and North, and we've all seen Roy's reaction to that. I'm sure a few words were spoken at half time yesterday as well when it looked like a repeat of the previous two weeks loomed. The response was we saw in the second half.

Andrew Hayes out 4-10 weeks.

Apparently he did this once before when playing in Sydney and it kept him out for the year.

He had a very similar injury a few seasons ago as well and missed 12 weeks. This one is not as bad as that one but nonetheless, he has torn some of the groin muscle off the bone. Absolute best case would be 4 weeks, I'm told by the man himself he's thinking it will be 8 weeks this time round.

Sooooooooooooo.... do you have a great number of football mates who are confident Central won't win it this year?

I've yet to have anyone tell me they think it'll be Torrens or Norwood or whoever...

It's Central hands down... hell if I were a Central fan, I'd be elated at how this season is going... playing ordinary (based on your comments), yet in the No.1 position, bloody beauty I reckon. I'll swap places!

Trial game this year... it was the game that convinced me Sturt would come last this season.

I'll be honest, Elizabeth is a no-brainer for me to go to, I've been living in Greenwith since moving back from England, so Elizabeth is the closest SANFL home ground from my place. Even when I move in a month to a farm, it'll still be the closest! :-)
