Well.................. A disappointing day out at Harpers on Saturday. With alot at stake on this game against CBCOC, plus safooty poster Optimus Prime's 100th game we were hoping to take a win into the break and have something to take into the last 9 games but it wasn't to be. The B's had a strong win in the early game to keep their finals chances alive and early on the A's looked like they could win their second game of the year and stay in touch but once again we wasted too many opportunities in front of goal where as CBCOC turned their fewer opportunities into goals. Very disappointing to be up at 3/4 time and go down without a hurrah in the last. It's going to take a miracle from here.... After seeing all teams now this year I have to say that us and CBCOC are the lesser talented teams in this div and will do it tough to stay in. We need some players to find some touch, need a few to return from injury and seriously need a bit of luck if thats possible. We just turn the ball over too much, we aren't finishing the goals and we just leak too many goals due to the pressure we are putting on our back 6. Lack of a key forward is hurting us too as we have only kicked 10 goals more than once (our poonent kicked 19 so no real consolation...) Scores of 9-16, 6-19, 5-7, 7-10 (our winning score...) and 8-19 just isn't anywhere near good enough in this division and neither is letting thru scores of 12+ goals in every game except 1. I honestly think our best side can compete well in division 3 and win more than they lose but what we have got in season 2011 is nowhere near our best side and it's proven by where we sit. Getting out of a weak division 4 last year into a strong division 3 this year has certainly shown us where we sit and what is required to become a stronger club. Lack of recruiting has definitly hurt us too....
But the lads will keep trying each week, we will look to inject some under 18's into the team now and I hope that they can salvage some pride from the rest of the year.
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.
