I for 1 cannot believe they are waiting a week to sort this out. What happens if he kicks 10 this week & wins the game for Jervois. Surely Mannum would be fuming. Should be done tonight or Friday night at the latest.

RMFL this is a joke!! If it was the Prelim, would u wait until the Grandfinal is played before sitting at the tribuneral. NO!!

Show some balls for god sake

If he is found guilty- Cannot coach (from within the grounds), but yes will be paid

I would say it either has to be 5 games or none, considering the nature of the injury.
If found guilty 5, if not guilty none, but given he has apologised (allegedly) there is already an admit of guilt. Would be interesting if Joel has his phone records.

This one will be very interesting to watch. I'm sure there will be some boys at mannum licking there lips at the opportunity to stir him up and there wont be alot he can do.

I wonder if Jervois will keep paying him if he gets rubbed out for a decent period of time. And there begs another question, is he still allowed to coach?

Cannot hold any official position when under suspension, not even as a water boy. This should also preclude him from entering the changerooms if the law is upheld correctly.

I'm sure Tailem would be watching what happens here considering Wayne Luckett got knocked out for 8 games last year for a similar issue.

From all reports it was not a pretty incident and should of been looked at alot closer by the 2 umpires that where have meant to see the incident from a distance and didnt deem it was worth looking at. No incident that leaves someone with a broken jaw and out of the game for 5 or 6 weeks should just be deemed okay. Lets just hope this gets looked after in the correct manner and the way it should be looked after this week and not next week. Lets also hope that the player in question is delt with as an equal to the rest of the players in the comp and not treated with speacial royalties because of who he is. It is still a nasty incident no matter who has delivered it and should be delt with that way.

Instead of bagging the RMFL perhaps we should be thankful that they have a clause in the constitution to handle these incidents and that they are prepared to act on it.

Very good point TW, however why is it being dealt with 9 days later? Both sides know about it, so why wait until next week. Just seems wrong IMO. And maybe the clause in the constitution was put in place along time ago, yet the current administration are dragging their heals because of who we are talking about? Did the Luckett incident take 9 days to come to a head? I think not

They are very delicate cases with specific processes that need to be adhered to.
The RMFL commisioners (Coventry, Gigger and Zadow)take over procedings and i can assure you Ken Coventry is a stickler for rules and procedures.
There are no favours when those guys are in the chair.
I believe the Lucket incident was witnessed by an official which helped in that case.
I suggest we all get on with things and let people do their jobs.

I've known of a coach in the RMFL in the past who was suspended, he addressed the players from just outside the actual playing surface. The players just congregated near the boundary during breaks.

Some observations:
- both clubs rely on a core of key players (in particular Ladhams for Jervois and Wark for Tailem), however both clubs have much improved depth compared to last season
- Owen Love would be one of the longest kicks of the footy I've seen in country football- Jervois' first quarter, particularly their inaccuracy, probably cost them the game.
- Tailem's attack was impressive to kick over 20 goals, however it was their defence that impressed me.
- the umpires - well I'll be diplomatic and won't comment on the umpiring.

There is a video on YouTube from last years Aboiriginal Carnival. Owen, playing for Raukkan, kicked a goal from near the centre circle at Imps towards the freeway end - must've been a 70m+ kick.... Absolute booming kick.

I only caught it half way into the clip, but I think this was the clip on Almost Footy Legends tonight.

Can anyone shed some light on this topic

Just got the word Michael Sumner & possibly Muffy to Tailem, can anyone shed light on this. Plus I know if you have played juniors at a club you become a zero pointer, but just how many games do you have to play both as a senior or junior at a club? I was under the understanding its 25, & if this is correct, would Sumner attract any points for Tailem? They are already 3 over their allotment

Excellent pick up if true. I think this is where the points system gets interesting, if he has returned to TB what points would he be on? I think he's been playing in country Victoria this year, country NSW last year. I think interstate leagues are perhaps only 2 point players. So if he's already played a season at Tailem, does that then make him a 1 point player?

Also, I don't think he'd be wanting as much $$'s playing with his mates, as he'd want if he was to play somewhere else such as in the Hills.

Interesting comment ftandsq, i heard from a very good source that Sumner didnt call any other club apart from Tailem. However i did hear that Imps made contact with him, but wasnt interested in going back there, because he wants to play with his close mates at Tailem.

Very good point GWW in regards to the points system.
