The melbourne players response on twitter is getting a fair airing at the moment on AFL 360. Rightly so far no one agree's with the 3 weeks.

Not sure if i should quote myself but Mark Robinson has just said that Trengove should have got a week for what he did. Did clarify it by stating that is only because you have to follow the letter of the law. Also made an interesting point that former demons captain james mcdonald was one of the three wise monkeys on the match review panel who handed down the initial decision

Yeah ex players on the review panel will raise some eyebrows at time. Seriously regardless it seems a bit harsh compare to what some players have gotten off for in the past. Oh well, young jack said he will just have to move on. Good on him has a good attitude about him. Just a bit unlucky.

It's crazy. I'm sure it's been pointed out, but how many tackles lead to ACL / Ankle / Collorbone injuries etc which see players careers put on hold for weeks/months.....

Its time for people to get rid of these muppets ru (i?)nning the game. Anderson, and fatman Demetriou the first to go. Get rid of the current tribunal system, get rid of the rules committee. Get rid of the 'fixture' and get back to a fair draw.

Unfortunately it doesnt matter the rules and laws of the way the tribunal are set and its not a matter of personal opinion anymore,but i thought in the past before the current points system took place decisions were strange in some cases.

It's the way these clowns from the AFL want it to go, sit down and read the 100 odd pages of the AFL future strategies plan, within 8 years football will be a non contact sport whilst these muffets are running the show.

If Trengrove still gets games for this, any side that plays our Juniors this week will win easy because the instruction may as well be dont tackle.

I was listening to SEN on the way home tonight and they said that David Galbally went in to the appeals tribunal with the belief that he'd get off because of his previous good record.

He argued that Trengove had never been reported, and because he is only 19 isn't able to obtain the 5 years of good behaviour that others more senior are able to obtain, hence his punishment was too severe.

The appeals tribunal weren't impressed by his case and let him know so.

I know the bodies are supposedly independent, but I think both the MRC and Tribunal would have felt like idiots if this had been overturned after the sensational attention it's attracted, so short of handing over a suitcase with millions of $$ (which lets face it is the only language the AFL speak), poor young Jack was never going to get off.

The points system used by the tribunal I think has generally worked well. But surely there's still a case for common sense and there is no way Trengove should have got 3 weeks (or any weeks) for that. Reminds me a bit of the Greg Williams suspension however many years ago for touching the umpire. Sacrificing the player to make an example.

If they're consistent with this, we'll see a report every week for a hard tackle.
