Siren was blown 4 minutes early accidentally and as we were shaking hands the umpires told us to get back into position and finish the game. Smosh walked off the field with the umpires giving them the choice to play out the game or let it go to the tribunal... Mitcham were obviously keen to finish the game being 5 points down but smosh didnt want a bar of it. Will be very interesting to see what they say at thebarton Wednesday night!
Being neutral to both sides and not any allegiances to either club..........you would think it is clear cut. If the siren is sounded and the umpires had raised their hands to end the game..................then that is it. END OF STORY. Would not have thought the umpires had the authority to tell players to get back into position to start the game again, once they had declared it over with.........but who knows with the martians and how they interpret anything. Even finding the ground for some of them is a real struggle, let alone umpire and make a decision of this magnitude.
Being either Mitcham or SMOSH or any other club for that matter and you were in front at the time, of course you would just walk off. Darn sure I would...............especially if the game had been just awarded to my team.
Was not there and did not see it and do not even know about the spirit in which it all happened, but that would be my understanding of the rules and that is all that should matter. You could not see anyone over turning a game that has been declared over by the umpires, no matter if the siren had been blown accidentally or not.
The only question that has not come up is was there two time keepers, one time keeper or what?
If there was only one time keeper and he was from SMOSH, that would probably not look so good however and could pose a problem
