If you didnt know what the score was you would have thought Portland were in front by 6-8 goals. Like to know the free kick count, very over umpired, too many frees paid both ways.
Looking at the other results still doesnt give a clear favourite for the premiership. Great comp, could go down to the wire as for who plays finals and who gets relegated. Early wins in the season will be like gold come to the pointy end of the stick.

I'm with you fred. world record free kicks i'd say! too many soft frees both ways. First time i've seen kicking in danger for a player trying to smother a kick?? Portland looked good, plenty of run & support. Good hard game. PH can take a bit out of it

Great game of footy at mitcham yesterday. Both sides fought hard all day. Siren was blown 4 minutes early accidentally and as we were shaking hands the umpires told us to get back into position and finish the game. Smosh walked off the field with the umpires giving them the choice to play out the game or let it go to the tribunal... Mitcham were obviously keen to finish the game being 5 points down but smosh didnt want a bar of it. Will be very interesting to see what they say at thebarton Wednesday night!

apparently its not the only game going to tribunal this week either. Goody Saints B Grade were told not to sing their song after they thought theyd held onto a 1 point win, as all officials had differing scores. Wouldnt have the slightest clue what the saafl will do about the MFC v Smoshs game though!

Dog act by Porplycia!! Blatant elbow into Mitch Doyles head splitting him open and giving him pretty bad concussion resulting in him going to hospital and may need plastic surgery. And Doyley wasnt the only person he cracked yesterday. There was no need for it as the game had been played in fantastic spirit all day.

Being neutral to both sides and not any allegiances to either club..........you would think it is clear cut. If the siren is sounded and the umpires had raised their hands to end the game..................then that is it. END OF STORY. Would not have thought the umpires had the authority to tell players to get back into position to start the game again, once they had declared it over with.........but who knows with the martians and how they interpret anything. Even finding the ground for some of them is a real struggle, let alone umpire and make a decision of this magnitude.

Being either Mitcham or SMOSH or any other club for that matter and you were in front at the time, of course you would just walk off. Darn sure I would...............especially if the game had been just awarded to my team.

Was not there and did not see it and do not even know about the spirit in which it all happened, but that would be my understanding of the rules and that is all that should matter. You could not see anyone over turning a game that has been declared over by the umpires, no matter if the siren had been blown accidentally or not.

The only question that has not come up is was there two time keepers, one time keeper or what?

If there was only one time keeper and he was from SMOSH, that would probably not look so good however and could pose a problem

the siren was not blown accidentally, it was blown by the MITCHAM time keeper based on his clock showing the game was finished. the apparent error is based on a clock being run by the mitcham bench. smosh were never told by umpires to get onto the field.
no-one was able to say exactly how much time remained because the time keeper had 0.00 time remaining. all other times are just a guess

Very unfortunate situation, as we had a fair bit of momentum at the time. It was our time keeper, and SMOSH had not provided a time keeper which they are apparently ment to do. We have someone on the bench who also keeps time on the game (with stopages obviously) so it was more than just a guess.

Not sure what the saafl will do with it, but SMOSH were well aware the game had been stoped early and that there was time to play, and weren't interested in coming back out the change rooms - can't really blame them, we probably would have done the same thing.

Things got a little heated, but mainly between supporters who had a few beers under their belts. SMOSH were very gracious about it all, and plenty of lads came in for a beer which was great.

Hope the SMOSH lads that were forced by our club trainer to clean the visitors change rooms did a good job

They were way too good for us on the weekend. Clean skills, good ball movement, sure hands. Everything we weren't and haven't been so far this year unfortunately.... :(
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

End of story then really. Mitcham time keeper who blew the siren 4 minutes early and the umpires then held the ball in the air and players shaking hands before the mistake had been realised. Nothing the SAAFL will do with it, you would not think. SMOSH even by your account were within their rights to walk off the ground. Game Over - 2 points to SMOSH and worry about next week. Simple really, but as am not a supporter of either team that is just a cold calculation, which I assume the league would also have to do. Sounds cold and has no emotion in it but would not be betting on anyone changing the result if reading all the evidence on here is correct and most importantly - that of Mitcham supporters as well.

Question - if the clock was at 0.00 and the Mitcham time keeper blew the siren, how do we really know there was 4 minutes left other than the clock on the Mitcham bench, which is not accurate or an official clock for the game? - Poor form though from SMOSH not to have a time keeper though

Don't know what to make of saturday - weird day. See what happens tribunal wise, but in my mind - sirens goes, umpires call full-time, players shake hands, game over. Different feeling going into the rooms and not knowing whether to ice down, or go for the deepheat!

Hollywood - You gotta be kidding. While i feel sorry for the bloke who went off - he was pretty groggy - Completey accidental contact - #5 was on the bottom of the pack and lukey got dumped by a mitcham player on top of him. Either way, hope hes alright.

On another note - Oval looked in great shape despite the rain. Best I've seen it look (in footy season)!

on the smosh game, if it were at there homeground and there time keeper blew the siren early i can understand this going to the tribunal and result being investigated, but concidering it was a mitcham home game and there error it should be end of story, No way in hell would you catch me walking back on to the oval at the end of a game that you have just won due to a mess up by the opposition time keeper.

Portland vs PH game was a good game, any side with Flynn at CHF is going to be reasonable, specially on a small ground like ours were there big names were everywere as for the umpires they wernt the worst we have had but one decission still amazes me when one of our players launched himself at the footy and gave a quick handball out was called for tripping as momentum on the wet oval made contact with a para hills lads leg, one of the weirdest calls i have ever seen after playing footy for 15 years
