He is no orphan when Allan comes up against the Dogs. Many times I have walked out of the ground thinking Allan was our best after a defeat, too bad he doesn't have the support of a team like Centrals. Anyway, just trying to make a point about the fact Allan gets no respect from some, who are delighted with James Boyd.

I think your referring to me there, all i said about Boyd was that i thought he was really good in the opening part of the game yesterday. No where have i stated his better than Allan and i dont think his in the same class as Allan at this stage, i do have respect Boyd highly in that he manage to play a game out with a broken leg that takes courage in anyones books.

Hairline fracture wasn't it? Be lucky to walk on a broken leg. Diagnosed a few days after injuring it?

No doubt it would be painful. I heard he did it playing indoor cricket. The other story was Boyd and Parry collided trying to get to the mirror first. ;)

Anyway, back onto North and Port. I'm sure Josh Francou is a relieved man tonight, as are all North supporters. Would of found it hard to come back from 0-3. Especially after playing West(no disrespect redandblack), South and Port. Big game this week against the Eagles (hopefully it's on ABCTV this Saturday), who will be stinging after getting belted by Sturt.

I said to a fellow North supporter that North only have to kick more than 10 goals today to win. It must be a huge concern for Port that they can't kick more than 10 goals. They haven't done that for their last 6 games now. Not easy keeping teams to small scores week in week out. Daniel Healy learnt that the hard way.

I did not say Boyd was as good as Allan, i was just pointing out that James never seems to do damage against us!! Going on your comments maybe he should do what Boyd did and move to a team that will aid his obvious skill and ability and just maybe he will recieve that premiership medal he deserves!!

Not where I stood. We were all commenting about where were the Port mob today. I was in front of the remaining grandstand which understandably was all North but we could hardly hear a whimper when Port scored. Perhaps it was different in the outer.

Agree
You NA supPORTters would see Jimmy every week and see both sides of Jimmys game

ALLAN
This is how I see it
When Jimmy is given latitude he WILL invariably carve you up
When he is tagged or the opposition go man to man with him, he will still win a great % of the ball
BUT
By manning up on him you create a contest and make him accountable
Jimmy will still dominate, heez a champ, but you can nullify or occasionally stop him with making him contest more plays
This logic applies to MOST star players, it aint rocket science

TODAY
OK PA have a gameplan, start with it, back your players
Thats a great way to teach the players and make them good footballers
BUT
When any opposition player is killing you, make a move, or tag him
Common sense
Whether its James Allan or a player playing his first game, you gotta make it tougher for that player

They trried to tag Allan but no one had the fitness or courage to gut run with him. The were certainly tagging him at every centre bounce, hence a number of frees were paid to Allan, but they were trailing by miles once the ball got moving.

It was easily the best game Backwell has played for North. I thought the scoreboard flattered Port, they got a couple of junk time goals and at least three goals from dubious umpiring decisions. It may have been 7 umpiring errors each Mal, but at least 3 of them resulted in goals to Port, maybe four, but none to North.

RG
At the centre bounces it might have been pin the tail on the donkey with Allan
But in general field play it was hide and seek

I disagree with your Junk Time PA goal summation, in this game
Why is nearly always when this happens
Using today as an example
NA 15-9
PA 8-11
PA kick the last 2 goals, and it is often said it was junk time, NA were relaxing , took foot of pedal etc etc
NA 15-9
PA 10-11

OR
NA kick the last 2 goals and win, and it is often said NA killed them off, or PA gave up, etc etc
NA 17-9
PA 10-11

I saw it this way, PA gave me vertigo all day watching em criss cross , go side ways, and being as indirect as possible in a game of footy
Then in the last 10 minutes today they decided to play more corridor footy, go longer and direct and got a couple of good late goals

JUNK TIME GOALS
Point being
A;When a good, or the winning team kicks goals in 4th qtr junk time it is said its good or great footy
B; When a bad or a losing team kicks goals in the 4th qtr junk time, its often said becoz the other team eased up
Perhaps about 65% of the time its A and not B

BUT
Today PA played well in the last 10 minutes , and thats why they got Junk goals
