It's not unheard of for kids to go against their parents and barrack for someone else. The difference Port have is that they've burnt off all the neutrals, it's going to take them another decade or two before the kids who are too young to remember 1997 have a meaningful disposable income and start pumping it into the team they support.

The Sturt game will succeed because just about every Sturt bloke follows Carlton and hence they'll stay for the main game.
