Just managed to log on and select (and SAVE) my team.

Yep I reckon the site will get busier and busier as the week progresses. 3am may be the best time to make any changes once the teams are named...

personally i think last years figures will only be a rough guide to this season. i think the extra complexities of this season (the buy, she substitute rule) may dramatically change the fortunes of some coaches. i think they have the potential to make the good coaches stand out more, and bring the lucky coaches (such as myself) crashing back down to earth!

i was very impressed with my season last year, being my first in this sort of thing, but i am terrified of coming unstuck this year and plummeting in the rankings. i am telling myself that i have picked a good team (and in actual fact every time i have looked at it in the past two weeks i havnt found anything to change, even though i feel i should!) and should hold my own but only time will tell.

i think this year, more than others, will seperate the good from the lucky. having said that, good luck all ;)

I am looking forward to this season, there are many obstacles along the way for everyone and whats best is that it is new to all of us.

I will not be striving for premiership success this season as my aim is to gain promotion into a league where the premiership counts, and then win it!

Good luck all...

This sub rule will be the death of Demetriou when one of my rookies gets subbed in for the last 10min of the game to score 4 points....

I think youll find it would be unlikely a rookie would be a substitute player... More like the rookie will be substituted off.

Just going from what i have heard, the substitution rule will be used by most teams to introduce an impact type player, so a ready made man who can play the game. As Neil Craig stated Andy Otten (i cringed too) or a Scott Steven would be a perfect fit for the substitution role, or a player who is not fully fit like Luke Hodge or Paul Chapman. These guys have not had a full pre season and will still be damaging, so rather than risk them for a whole game why not bring them on at 3 qtr time and let them run riot for 2 quarters against opponents who are buggered.

Of course what i am saying is only my opinion, but i don't think rookies will be named as substitutes, but i could be wrong...

well i have lost all of my confidence, i have made more changes in the last 24 hours than i have made in the previous three weeks! and i think i am still chasing a lineup i will be happy with.

does anyone know when we will find out our direct head to head opponent? i am assuming it will be after the lockout starts. not that it will change anything, but i am just curious :)

Head to head matches probably wont start until about round 4. Usually its just points gathering until then

Can this be explained? I don't understand the new sub rule that well obviously.

Does the game go for an extra quarter if you use a sub player? :D .

For the 2011 home and away season, clubs will be required to nominate one of its bench players as a substitute player.

Three players on the bench will be interchangeable throughout the match, as per previous seasons, while the one substitute player can be brought into the game at any time and for any reason. The substituted player takes no further part in the match.

The club will be required to nominate its substitute player when final team sheets are lodged on match day.

Two substitute players will be used in the NAB Cup, as per the trials of recent seasons.

A substitute player will be required to wear a green vest, until he is activated to play. The substituted player who is removed from the game will be required to wear a red vest.

The vests will be used to clearly indicate to the opposition and spectators the players involved in the substitution.

If a club sends a substitute player on field before notifying the interchange steward, the opposition club will receive a free kick and 50-metre penalty.

I must admit i always thought it was four players on the bench...

H2H matches start from Rd 1 this year to compensate for the multi team byes where there will be no H2H matches.
