redbacks v tigers o/d 21/2

First Class Cricket Talk (International and State)

I'm not sure whether it is Boof trying to improve Cosgrove's bowling so he can get into the Aussie team in the future or what but it is absolutely ridiculous that he continues to bowl him.. especially at the death when they are going the slog anyway. I have no idea what is up with Boof's captaincy this season.

IVE BEEN DOWN and saw the tassie innings

DIZZY'S 10 overs were sensational!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Young Cullen was useful as was CLEARY who took a couple of wickets but went for around 40 runs.

COSGROVE a poor effort in the field which cost a catch, plus 2 overs of absolute GARBAGE, reminiscent of MALS bowling

The Redbacks win by 3 wickets with 21 balls to spare. Well done.

And that's what he got out for, playing a shot he shouldn't have done. But the game was pretty safe then anyway.

ELLIOTT another contribution AGAIN
DIZZY brilliant AGAIN
BOOF contributes AGAIN
FERGY sensational just needs one big score to be very good.
R HARRIS + CLEARY since these 2 allrounders joined forces this o/d
team has been in form winning last 3 games.
R HARRIS 3/49 and a few runs when the pressure was on is a good o/d player

The 2 dissapointments MANOU who under pressure played some bad shots
the last 10 balls he faced.
BOOF for this absurd inFATuation in bowling COSGROVE AGAIN

I would make 2 changes in the 2 pura cup games left
FERGUSON or CULLEN or CLEARY in ELLIOTT out
BUT we all know that wont happen.
CLEARY for R HARRIS as well

Couple of things mal.

1. DIZZY brilliant AGAIN - any chance of a plane ticket to the Caribbean if Lee isn't fit? (realistically we know it won't happen but should it?)

2. You describe R. Harris as an allrounder. The commentators described his as a genuine tail ender when he came to the crease. You were quick to point out what the commentators said regarding Watson the other night so you must hold commentators in high regard. Are they right on this occassion. Would you like R. Harris' stats?

Having said that i think Ryan Harris will be a very good player for SA as a bowler who bats a little.

HARRIS is an allrounder in district cricket where hes made heeps of
runs and taken heeps of wickets
Number 9 is a tailenders spot, but his batting is worthy of a number 7.
Ive seen him in 3 PRESSURE situations get us thru in close games with the bat
That 6 v QL earlier this year where we needed a 6 last ball.
And another game recently
And tonight under pressure did well with the bat.

He made 61* batting at 9 in a pura cup game.

If he bats 9 we can never expect him to fully develope his batting.

BUT he is only a good o/d bowler so far in the o/d games
His bowling in the p/cup has been ordinary

As for DIZZY in the WI not a bad thought he has clearly been an outstanding
o/d bowler this year.

I don't disagree mal. I think R. Harris is an alrounder and will be handy at state level but i was just making the point that the commentators looked at his record and made the point that he is a genuine tail ender. Same way they thought Watson was a decent bowler and you pointed that out the other day. Both sets of commentators made mistakes.

Ryan Harris is a good allrounder, but there is only room in the team for one of them, and Cleary wins that battle hands down. I rate Cleary extremely highly.
