They've lost their best ruckman, their best key position player, their full back and possibly their best midfielder to AFL duties.
3 players ? What midfielder to AFL ? Callinan is a rookie which requires him to be upgraded first .

Well, when you say 3 players, they're 3 key players. Obst covers one certainly, but just from my club's point of view, we haven't lost any key players and IMO have not lost a player from our best 21.The Bays have lost one key player, Mills. So I think your losses are greater than some clubs.
Callinan would be favourite to be the nominated rookie, meaning he can play the entire season with Adelaide.

Obviously didnt watch to many Dogs games last season.
Schell at times was lucky to hold his spot, age had definatly got the better of him. Over this decade he has been our best KPP no doubt but last year he was definatly on his last legs.
We have now replaced him with a bloke (Obst) who is at a similar stage to where Schell was when he came back to the Dogs plus Obst has proven he can play SANFL level already.
Its also a much healthier squad this year with 4 league regulars who had delayed pre seasons last year due to operations having no such issues this season.

True, but he (Schell) was pretty important, as per usual, in the finals series and the GF. Even though he was playing with a dislocated shoulder.

Probably too hard to put some odds together especially not knowing how seriously each team would take it but my money would be on one of the top 2 VFL or maybe WAFL clubs.
If all AFL players are available it'll be hard to go past the VFL sides.
Going to be interesting!
I sometimes struggle to get enthused enough to travel 15 minutes to SANFl games but will be making every effort to attend every North match in this comp no matter where it is inthe country!![]()
It's going to be great seeing the North, West and Port guernseys on the national stage and not just at suburban level!

Agreed, given some of the smart alec comments from North and West, especially if they lose.

I haven't heard any but I don't expect the SANFL sides to take it out.
If North get knocked out early I'll certainly be cheering for West or Port as they'll be representing South Australia on a national stage. Really looking forward to seeing the various styles from the NT, Qld and WA since I've already seen a bit if the VFLrecently (which impressed me).
Also a good chance for supporters in other states to see their teams live on TV!

Despite going over old ground, given I raised it. I'll try to find the Collins article.
