Heater, while I have been disillusioned by the PLFL recently you continually bring up this mass exodus of PL players to GF to try and promote the GFFL. It's simply not happening, as many come to PL as leave for GF. The thought of looking better than you are must be enticing for the types that leave......

PL has some problems, but no where near what you continually sell to all. The PL standard will also always be substantially better, this is almost indisputable, in the nicest of ways to say it mate, lose the inferiority complex

Not trying to make the GFFL look better at all. In fact I have not been a registered GFFL player for over 5 years now! If I wanted to promote my self interests with my current role in football I certainly would not be advocating moving to Great Flinders, much further than just up the road in fact.

Also I don't think I have continually mentioned the there is a mass exodus. Sure I have mentioned other problems at times eg The attitude of some Port Lincoln Sportsmen who seem to reach for the 'too hard basket' far too early and the cold war between the Men and Women winter codes in Port Lincoln which surrounding leagues hold in high regard and could have ramifications in future Sporting developments on the Peninsula.

Too hard basket? Example please, I'm curious

As for footy and netball, PL is a city with options. The whole family doesn't all go to the footy and netball down here. What is a strength up there, is quite irrelevant to us, and unless you are a Ranger your only 5 mins at best from most grounds anyway. PL doesn't need the togetherness to survive, sure we might lose a few who come from other EP Leagues who go to GF to get what they are used to, but a lot of PL recruits come from Adelaide and couldn't care less about where the netball is played.

Personally, I am so glad I don't have to watch netball, but with a daughter I'll soon have to. Hell, I'll have to go from Ravendale to Centenary at worst, and the Wangary games will be lay days from netball.... ;)

As reported on here a severe lack of numbers for Mortlock Selection a few short seasons ago, if the PLFL think they are the better standard then why weren't they trying to show it? Point taken that it was City/Districts at that time too. But when the going is good it has everyone is falling over each other to be selected and then beat the drum that they are the best. Surely it would reflect better if both halves put on a good show rather than pooling resources and being flat track bullys when you combine as one.

For a League of your size to have no takers for a president within 3 or 4 months of the season beginning is absurd. I'm sure the SANFL are scratching their heads as to why this is occurring.

if I can use some cricket I am sure there are some who have made themselves unavailable for inter-league games as well just because the road trip was longer than 20 mins. The too hard basket is not confined to just Football.

If your Football and Netball Associations won't co-operate then don't expect when the time comes to consolidate the EP sporting structure that surrounding areas will negotiate with you. Then they could suffocate you even further if the perceived hidden problems are still around and for what ever reasons they want to leave. Sink or Swim for both then fine by me.

I seem to have touched a nerve with you WCP with this so it will be my final response on the subject. When I posted the original comment I certainly didn't expect that type of response from someone of your stature in this EP online community. The next time I hear some decent news regarding Football (or any other Peninsula sports for that matter) I will keep it to myself. Perhaps I should lobby the moderators of this great site to remove all references to the surrounding leagues and leave you PLFL people to continue your chest beating by yourselves?

I didn't get much of a bite last time, but said plainly, the next President, PLFL, has been decided, bar the officialdom... Order will be restored... 8)

Good to hear MP.

First item on the agenda of the new President is pull the MPFC and their riot squad into line and hammer them with harsh pentalties. Failure to comply should result in suspension of the club from the league until such time as they play by the rules.

Get into them early and get them listening right from the start. Failure to undertake all the tasks every other club fulfills such as umpires, timekeepers and attendance at meetings should mean a loss of premiership points straight away.

Happy New Year beeatches. :supz:

Well my final comment will be, in contradiction to you again, is that if things get tight and mergers are required the PLFL won't be the one begging for GF to negotiate with us. We have a sustainable growing population of 15,000 catering for only 6 sides. We have u9's, 11's, 13's, 15's and 17's compared to GF who have Senior and Junior Colts.

GF are much more vulnerable than PL, and that's not chest beating, mere fact.

Just on PL's two Mortlock sides, it wasn't that long ago (2000-2003) I think Districts didn't lose a game albeit missing out on percentage to claim the shield (we set City up for their 2003 win). The lack of prestige however in making a side made up of 3 teams created a lack of interest. Things have sure changed now though....

And that's why GFFL now want Pt Lincoln to go back to City and Districts...

Because Lincoln going to have a record stretch... :D

Netball, who wants to watch netball? If you do.... go play in an inferior competition at the GFFL, hell you might even get a kick up there.

Tod River over charlton in both grades.
In the B grade "young David Hope" made 35 then took 3 for 9 off 5 plus a great catch in the slips to bring the game back to toddies.
really a game that was too close that shouldn't have been.
in a good sign though, there were 7 juniors play between the two sides that can all hold their heads high with their performances.

Tasmans got rolled for 70-odd I heard... Don't know if they took any wickets when the chase was on, but it was over quick.
