LM, either you are optimistic about your teams chances......or
you are taking a calculated risk in a bid to make ground in the tips.....or
you got on the very attractive odds in a side bet, which the bookie made. ;)

Smithfield have the capabilities, they just haven't fired a shot yet, Hannun, Goulding, Morris, Taylor, Bickle, Newman and Tuckwell are all capable of posting a decent score and there's enough other batsmen around them, they have underachieved so far. Would've been good to see Mathews elavated to the A's, didn't happen though.
The Lodge's strength isn't their bowling, if we can shelve the creative shots early on in our innings' and someone can put their hand up, we can post a decent total and put the pressure on the Lodge.
Infact I'll put 10 cyber bucks on Morris into the win.

LM beware of the Greenwith pitch it tends to be slower off the matting than the usual matted pitches, also bowlers get more cut of the deck as the fake grass is longer.

i dont think smithfield have underachieved at all... its their first season in div 1 and i dont think they are quite the side a few people have spoke them up to be. i dont think they r good enough to really test the better teams consistently... but hey its a one dayer and on any given day anythin can happen

You beauty!!! I had 5er on that bad boy.

OTH def Virginia 204 to 170 odd.

Smitty 46 caught in 2nd to last over on the boundary... very nice knock, troy scott and fanta opened for 40 odd each.

Basercombe or whatever his name is was dropped in the first over, had a couple of others go down off him too and a couple dropped just short of fielders... went on to make 70 odd, hit a couple of good good strikes.

Very good feeling to get another win tho.
The secret impresses no one. The trick you use it for is everything.

C grade actually.

Costanzo still made 90 odd though.

Westies A grade and B grade both registered comfortable wins.

Yes Costanzo finished on 91. Matt Feltus made 89 not out :(

Must say there were a couple of very close LBW chances against Costanzo turned down, but apart from that really didnt offer a chance all day. Easy to see why he has made so many runs.

Either way thats the best win we have had all season, tough opposition and were in early trouble at 2/9 then 3/24, but lucky our middle order knuckled down and gave us a decent total to defend.

Even up to the last wicket i felt it could still go either way.

51 for the 4th wicket, 39 for the 6th, 74 for the 7th.. id say our batting held up ok against some good bowling..

Feedback I got was that they were LBWs that no friendly umpire would give, our guys expected that if the roles were reversed they would have been turned down as well. But I wasn't there either, so can't really comment.

But the guy averaged something like 40 in grade 1 since returning to the club as a 42 year old. Got some serious talent and knows his limitations. Everyone seems to get carried away with how hard he hits the ball (landed them in the skate park at Salisbury North #1 from what I hear) but what he does best is not give chances and waits for the ball to hit. But in the end, 215 is a big score in a one day game on any oval.
