baldo 129 not a bad start to this week ;) also not bad for an old fat fella
good bunch of blokes at rose park even when their skipper asked 3 other bowlers to
have a crack at me, and the three saying no they didnt want to bowl
clarke bowled like a machine and the spinner (sorry dont know the name) had 3 for 0
then 4 for 2 then after that well you know the rest....... maybe i might give the bowling away and learn to bat properly? also well done smithy from vista on making a ton also .

After seeing last seasons effort against Fitzroy of 157 i didn't think i would ever see another innings like it but after hitting 129 from 51 balls on Saturday, Smasha is the undisputed destroyer of bowling figures in this comp! I don't think they can make a ground big enough for him!

Smasha must of been a fan of the late great David Hookes. I once heard Hooksey say similar to this, "From my first delivery and onwards I will try and hit it for six, if I can't then I'll hit a 4, and if I can't do that any runs will do". I thought at the time that's BS Hooksey, every batsman needs to get their eye in, most batsman will look for that little trickle to fine leg to get off the mark, generally batsman lock up shop the last over before drinks and nearly every batsman is looking for that quick single when on 99! Well I haven't seen a batsman yet live off Hooksey's theory till Smasha hit his 1st ball in both games against Rose Park for 6 and never looked like hitting it anywhere else!

Congrats on the ton Smasha, couldn't believe it was only your 2nd and you appeared very humble at achieving it. For what it's worth I wouldn't be changing your technique (fair to say you're on the wrong side of 30 to do that ;) ) and whilst it may not be conjusive to batting for long periods of time, it sure makes entertaining viewing (if you're not a bowler that is ;) )

IMO Pow-wow-wee would be lost without A. Frith, just churns out the runs every week it seems, god i love that dopey kid! :D

hey couger, thanks for kind words mate, yeah it is a lot of fun having a crack at every ball and bowler but like I said to your opening bowler I dont mean any disrespect to any bowler thats just the way I bat (slog for a better word) ;)
yes it was only my second ton in my 30 years of playing this great game. I honestly thought after last year I would never make a ton again. and I was happy with that. but 90% luck and 10% ability got me another one (go figure) I honestly cant be arrogant when I bat as I do not class what I do as batting  when you think about it all I do is close my eyes and swing like all mighty hell and the ball goes screaming off somewhere? BUT when I bowl I am very arrogant as most mediums and quicks are  but thats another story. so looking forward to seeing you guys again on saturday and hope you all stay for a bevvy or 12 8)

wow....what a great weekend in cricket for Div1 this week.

Smasha. U suck and your a pig !!!! i remember having 10 people on the boundary for you for your first ton, only to see the ball rocket over their head on every occasion. But it sounds like this innings just gone was even more disgusting....so congrats to you! would have loved to have seen it.

Pidge has finally come of age with some fire in the belly. 7 fa....but should have had 9 fa. Has only himsel to blame as bored so rightly mentioned.

The innings by J. Smith, however, was chanceless. 139 no after 65 overs. Probably the best innings ive seen in my churches career. Nothing to appeal for, no edges, nothing lofted dangerously (maybe one!)...good temperament. Lets hope me ort one of my boys can do the same and chase the runds down.

PS: Goatie.....got myself a boat. picking it up on sunday :D 18ft ally, 115 jono. ready for nov30th !!

I think you need to work on being more up front mate. Such a shy lad.. :p  I reckon I can help you out with a few handy cordinates.

See, right awaythere's your first project.. One seat's no good mate! You'll have fat bastards like me bouncing around the cockpit like a bloody pinball when a bit of chop springs up.. Not good for keeping the boat on an even keel. ;) Oh, and if you're gonna look at adding any stainless accessories (rod holders, rocket launchers etc), you need to meet a mate of mine.. Hand-makes some pretty awesome gear. 8)

Smasha, congrats on tapping out another ton mate! Almost raising the bar to all-rounder status. I like seeing ol' fella's reinvent themselves later on in their careers and adopt 'smarter cricket' policies.

and it was the first time he has ever played against me? go figure. so now onto you old boy ;) how is your game going at present?
