Question about the rules: Is it legal to wear your thigh pad on the outside?
I forced a Mitchell Park batsman in Section 2 (official umpire) to remove it or put it on the inside.
I could have been wrong, the umpire didnt know but made him take it off.
Is it legal or should just be banned anyway because it looks pathetic?

As far as I know it isn't illegal, but it does look awful and there should be a fine of somesort. I know at the club I play at, there would be a $2 fine for doing it.

WYC too good for Morphies today in a 20/20 match- congrats. Apologies too for the behavior of several of our players today - it was unacceptable! Huge kudos to the WYC boys for putting all that behind them and having a beer afterwards - sportsmanship isnt dead - you guys proved that today - well done!

I would add one comment - if the ASCA want to run a cricket comp of any type (in this case 20/20) then at least have the decency to organize umpires - todays match almost got out of hands because there were no officials there - very poor form and makes us look like a joke to other comps who seem to run things far better than us.

In the whole scheme of things does it really matter?

Is the thigh pad on the outside going to change the result of the game?

its Suburban Cricket for **** sake, not test matches!

Perhaps concentrate on just getting the batsman out instead of his attire, its also only section two, not sheep-station cricket.

Glad i did not venture over the road then Madrooster if this was the case. We are fast getting a reputation as a club of bad sports, which i know would dissappoint the Pres no end.
Scoreboard says we were thrashed unmercifully, which begs the question why there was a need for such carry on.
Well done WYC for being the better & bigger club from all reports.

Jabber / Plympton Forum users,

Wouldn't happen to know where the " Mosse Harley Trophy " is would you, we asked about it after the game on the weekend but your Captain wasn't to keen on looking for it.

Can anyone elaborate on the Section 4 result between Belair and WYC. It appears from MyCricket as if Belair forfeited midway through Saturday's play?

i know rules are rules but this is a dead set sportmanship issue.
Wyc were in their rights to call it but its a disgrace

Belair captain put a 1 on the wrong line of a subtitute player
the player was to play both weeks
was not a ring in or unregistered or anything
just a 1 on the line up from whrere is was suppose to be.

playing section 4 hard wicket ffs!
they made Belair forfiet

No worries Bradman i suppose you want other clubs to just turn a blind eye to a player who was supposed to have only played week 1 coming out to bat on week 2?

Maybe the captain should make sure he doesn't make those mistakes.

Quite simply rules are rules and i applaud my team and captain in section 4 for making the right decision on the day as it was not the easy way out.

What is bad sportsmanship is the way the belair players carried on after the games from all reports.

Maybe if the captain had come up and admitted his mistake prior to play commencing on day 2 it wouldn't have been such an issue but no Belair made the attempt to play the game knowingly with someone who shouldn't have been playing.

Well done to the ramblers on the weekend no doubt the best team on the day won.

I'm confident should we get the chance to meet again this season we can turn it around.

your a twat!
how can he admit to a mistake he didnt know about??

im pretty sure we are playing cos we enjoy it??
but i did say he was within his rights to make them forfeit and that they are rules

Sportmanship and common sense should have prevailed
he put a 1 on the wrong line ffs

there are plenty of examples of sportmanship over rules
i seen 2 already in 1 game
captains calling blokes back even though by the rules they were out.
commonsense but thats ok cos it will come back to bite them on their ass

Yes i was extremely disapointed that it didnt get presented, especially after all the hard work that i and a few others had done to get it some meaning back into it. He shouldnt have had to look to far because i believe it is in our committee room.

It adds character to hand over a trophy to the opposition after you lose, and it was unfortunate that this was not done.

I can pass this onto the cricket director and have this presented to you guys in the most appropriate way possible. The bloke it was named after deserves it, and this time round you blokes deserve it too.

It is important that Plympton v Morphies continue the trophy, i know we have a lot of banter on here but generally its all in a bit of fun. Especially for a couple of clubs that, to be honest, haven't brought home a whole heap of silverware in section one of late, its good to play for something and get that intense finals-like feeling going.

oh cmon
twat is name calling?? seriously!
how do you reckon you would carry on with something as petty as that in a section 4 game
ive played plenty of cricket in my life and at alot higher level and have seen worse things handled alot better than that.

if we carried on that bad why didnt they report anyone?
telling them they were unsportmanlike and that we wouldnt shake hands not a big deal i wouldnt think.
anyway life goes on
