I think that interview was after the 96 loss. He then resigned. I remember being doubly disappointed by both the loss and losing such a great coach. But in hindsight he knew better - he felt that he had taken the club as far as he could and he left but left us with the foundation for later success.
I believe that his contribution to Port Power enabled them to have the personnel for their flag and the results will come through for the Crows. He does not get instant success but builds over the long period. The Power were very silly to let him go.
