Anyone backing SK at the points be wary

2009 GRAND FINAL
SK were +7 at the points
GE kick a goal after the siren with no SK player manning the goalsquare
Defenders had walked off the ground
That goal made the + points punters lose

2010 PRELIM FINAL
the points betting was at about -28 for SK over WB
SK had 5 players on the Interchange late in the game
HAHN took a mark on the final siren
HAHN kicked a goal that no one saw
Once again the SK defenders left the field
That goal made the points punters lose as the final margin was 24 points

QUESTION
Could a SK defender have stopped that kick if on the goaline ???????????????????

As 4 Lyon having 5 guys on the Interchange what a goose
By playing one short you are by odds definition denying the ball to the SK players
Made more sense to play 18 on the ground gain possesion and kick it sideways and backwards
A gamestyle tactic perfected under Lyon

To beat CO , SK will need to deny CO the ball and possess it
That will be side kicks, back kicks, short forward kicks
Mess up the spectacle and win
If they take on CO and attack they might get flogged

The side that gets an early lead of 2-3 goals will win this

i see where you're coming from mate, but i rekon at that point he was more thinking about preservation of players legs and less chance of injury.

If you saw who was on the bench you could see that Ross Lyon was clearly resting his gun players for next week. The five players were Nick Dal Santo (best outside midfielder), Michael Gardiner (best ruckman), Brendon Goddard (best utility), Lenny Hayes (best inside midfielder) and Nick Riewoldt (best player). All of these players are irreplaceable and if any of these players didn’t play against Collingwood then St Kilda certainly would not win.

But Collingwood do not have a marked alternative to their black and white stripes and, according to president Eddie McGuire, will not entertain the thought of one.

This has led to considerable angst in the past and a degree of bemusement at other clubs where changes have been demanded.

Yep. Another glaring example of how some clubs have far more pull than others, and the incredible double standards of the AFL.

It is one of the few times I agree with anything Collingwood does, I think kudos to the pies for standing up to the AFL and not changing their jumper. If you can't see a big red panel on the saints jumper then bad luck.

It has been going on a lot longer than McGuire's presidency, looking at http://www.footyjumpers.com, Geelong used an alternative jumper against Collingwood back in 1914 and 1921.

And on the other side of the coin you have the Saints, who've struggled to even get to the big dance.

Played 41 I think and won 14 with one draw. Out of their last 20 GF's they've only won 3!

I'll give you 2002, but in 2003 the lead up was all about how far Collingwood! Been there last year, beat Brisbane in the qualifying final, etc. etc. Fortunately Brisbane didn't want a bar of it! :D
