That doesnt make any sense! If SHOCS B grade are finals bound then their C grade will not be getting any players filter down!! not only that, any fringe players would have to have played 5 C grade games to qualify!

Depends on what happens with their A Grade. If the A's don't make it to finals there would be three or four currently playing A's who'll probably qualify for B Grade finals, which would then force three or four down into the C Grade.

True...I also dare say if it comes down to that last game of us v SHOC for a finals spot fair chance there could be a couple sent back down for that game :(

They have a few back in the 1s and 2s from injury apparently which is fine, i couldnt see them dropping players for the sake of it.

If your team is in a position where it is mathematically impossible to make the finals. Do you play some of the younger fellas who have missed out on a regular spot & experiment a little with positions or do you still try and go all out and try and get another win?

from a club percpective you would play the kids and experiment
as from a coaching point of view, unless you had a contract already for the following year orhad already been spoken to,most would be inclined to try to better their win'loss record to make good for scoring a gig somewhere the following year
not all coaches think whats best for players, clubs and sponsors but how it will effect them

Watched my third game down at crab park for the year.

The units game today was a testament to their form over the past 10/11 weeks, where they accounted for every team in the competition. After demolishing the crabs in the first half, they took the foot of the pedal and allowed Flinders U to step up and win the quarter three goals to one when Flinders delivered their only inspired play for the day. Impressively, they responded to their coach, who delivered a bollocking to his charges at the last change, with a 12 goal final quarter.

CU certainly play a physical brand of football more reminiscent of how the game was played one to two decades past. It will be interesting to see how the team copes with quality umpires from higher divisions, who call the game much closer to what is played on TV. It has and can be the difference between premierships and disappointment.

After reading posts about CU's supporters on here in recent weeks, I can report that CU's supporters were well behaved and there were no incidents to speak of.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

I went down to watch Athelstone vs Glenunga yesterday, from all accounts and what I was told the raggies had 9 of the top 21 out, to go down by 4.5 to the top side very impressive raggies great effort, remember this is a C grade side vs a so called A grade side. As mentioned previuosly the raggies have been very unlucky this year.
Glenunga can't play on a big ground and will struggle to win come finals they have only won 1 game vs top 5 side on a big oval.

Adelaide Uni D grade need to have a look at themselves allowing that weird freak of an uprime to continue umpiring games (outrageous), I have never seen someone openly cheat the way he does, along with the on field arugments with not only players but the other uprime it's disgusting, how you sleep at night who knows. I'm unsure if wes has his head up his bum or the other way round!!! However he is the only bloke to get 3 votes in a game in 2008 where he didn't play (poor form). They both should be ashamed, how can you look your team mates/players in the eye's each week knowing you didn't deserve 3 votes each game. Then taking the accolades at the end of the year!!!!!!!!!

Uni D grade umpire was late to the game this weekend and also looked like he may have enjoyed a few bevvies before hand (thats just the way he looked most likely not right) but he isnt the greatest but you have to deal with it i suppose.
On a brighter note the two umpires who we had for the A Grade were absolutly fantastic, they were in tune with each other and allowed the game to continue when needed and hardly made a mistake, it was a really good game of footy (except the result) and the umps really deserved a good wrap especially since im usually pretty hard on them.

Have been told by someone in this grade that they think Ahelstone are 1 or 2 of the better teams in the grade. i don't no if they have had a lot of injuries but they have plenty of talent in this side that use to play "a" grade football and still could!

Athelstone are certainly an under rated team. I think they are better than what the ladder shows. People talk about ins and outs all the time as a reason for losing games of footy. We have changes to our side every week (5 this week) and still manage to maintain our momentum. Successful teams are the ones that can manage these changes and still continue to win games of footy.

I think a lot of posters are forgetting Athelstone were a kick off making the Grand Final last year, added Whenan, Carr and Grossman to that side and still won't make the 5. Shows how much the standard of Div 7 has improved this year.

4/5. All the away teams was needed.

A blustery Mawson Lakes Hotel Oval greeted the Adelaide University Blacks yesterday as the Saints filled a much different line up to the previous weeks. With Rob O'Gorman (torn muscle of bone), Ashley MacDonald (cracked ribs), Damien Montfrooy (knee), Daniel Kuzniecow (hamstring), Marc Doyle (hamstring), Shane Scragg ('man' flu) and Glenn Meulendyks (hair transplant) all out from the Glenunga game, SOS calls were made from the Mawson Lakes Club rooms on Thursday Night. Several players 'came out of retirement' to help the B grade fit a side, while Saints Co-Captain Travis Smits made a long awaited return after injuring himself in Round 5.

With a strong breeze favouring the Southern end, as has been the norm this year with Mawson Lakes, skipper Lachlan Kennett lost the toss and were against it from the start. For the Blacks Phillip Swincer made a strong start on ball, while Michael Heath and Samuel Proud kicked some long goals from outside 50. The Saints got their first through a solo effort by Myles Cooper and the returning Smits goaled on the quater time siren, but the Saints still trailed by 3 goals. The 2nd quater saw the Saints fight back through the efforts of hard nut Steve Papayianis as he constantly fed his team mates, while Kaleb Tymco kicked a 60 metre goal off one step. With Saints leading by the bearest of margains the Blacks again piled on the pressure as Scott Uppington took several field marks before eventually being contained by the Saints Shane Stanley. With a 7 point lead at quater time, the last quater proved to be a shootout. Smits and Ivan Novosel goaled to level the scores, but Adelaide Uni made the most of their opportunities up forward in the last term. Heath again kicked a classy goal from a situation it didn't seem possible and the Blacks were able to keep the Saints at arms reach and hold onto a 5 point win. In a pulsating match the Blacks enjoyed the spoils of victory and look like earning a double chance. The Saints fought bravely on Saturday, and probably produced it's best effort in recent weeks, which could have been put down to the Coach's unorthodox training routine last Thursday night that had some players suggesting it was the best 'Training night' they'd ever been to.
