The Magpies’ future remained in doubt on Wednesday when the South Australian Football Commission upheld the SANFL directors' decision to block a proposed merger between the Power and Port Adelaide Magpies.
The former SANFL powerhouse could be forced to sell off its only asset, the Prince of Wales Hotel, to remain in the competition this season and will cease to exist beyond 2010 unless another solution to their financial woes emerges.
etc, etc etc

Cool. More comments backing me up. Other solutions were found. Increased membership, sponsorship rapidly increased, donations....

The Maggies are doomed & at the end of the day we can all take the piss but I don't want them to fold. I have spent nearly all my life, in winter, going to the footy & those bastards have featured too prominently for most of them. BUT without them, it won't be the same.

Back in the mid 90's when Sturt were close to the edge, they set up an account where people could put in donations and I tipped in a bit of cash.
My girlfriend at the time worked for one of Sturt's creditors and she had a crack at me saying I'd wasted my money, as the club will be gone within a couple of weeks.
15 years later we're still here.
