After being done by the Smosh's c grade. To see our lads play a grinding game of footy and come out on top was great. Seeing that it was said we had no DEPTH and it is a huge concern. Well the proof is in the pudding. Up and down game and it was never realy out of grasp for either side but to our credit the boys kicked in a gear to finish off. A couple of decisions by a few smosh boys in their attacking 50 were not what they needed and the return from our back 6 including the onballers was also great to see. The standard of umpiring was questionable again. For both teams. Too many calls made based on what the attacking side and their supporters were saying instead of interpreting the rules for what they actually stand for.
Depth in my oppinion is based on a few things not just what you can put on the park each week. With that said the pie of humbleness should be tasting lovely for some right now. ENJOY!!!!

Portland smosh game was a good game of footy, Portland lead for most of the day but smosh always staying with in arms reach, smosh hit the front in the last quarter kicking to the scoring end and it looked like it could have been game over but to our boys credit we dug deep and come away with the win, moody and dickenson were a huge factor in the Thunders win while as much as i hate to say it luke Port Pizza was pretty handy for smosh. was surprised to see the portland boys heavily out weighed smosh players back in the club rooms, after the round 3 encounter the smosh boys hung around for a couple of beers but wernt there at there own oval, may have had a show on elsewere just was a touch surprised.

BTW congratulations to kilburn on the weekend, can anyone comment on the game, noticed Kilburn were missing arguably there best player aswell in matty hill.

Not too sure mate, as had something on myself and had to bail straight after the game. Good to hear the Portland lads hung round for a beer though, good form I say.

Good game in front of a big crowd I thought. Moody was a clear BOG. Heard a rumour he may have broken ribs - any truth to it? I got roped into time-keeping and was interesting to note Portland made only 4 interchanges in the first half - 3 of them being for the ruckman - no. 16. with the long hair. When he came off for a rest each time, SMOSH clearly got on top. The umprie blew time off for the first time (excluding the obvious Goals/behinds/out of bounds) at about twenty five minutes into the last quarter. Do they deliberately not do it, or is this just not attention to detail? Some questionable umpiring decisions, but not really favouring either side. Portland just finished the game better in the end, but a good desperate game, which is nothing less then you'd expect in a local derby.

Different aspect of the game, but I'd rather be bloody playing then time-keeping thats for sure!

And also, congratulations to Kilburn, thought they put up a good fight aginst us a couple of week ago and wouldn't be far away. Well earned by those lads that have stuck it out in a pretty tough gig.

was a huge crowd, one of the biggest i have seen in a div 3 game. agree moody was BOG early but due to going off in the third quarter IMO dickenson over took him, the ruckman perkins is finally staring to get a rest after rucking on his own for the past 3 years but wasnt aware of the lack of changes but could be something we need to look at.

this week is a massive game for us against Para Hills like i have said on here all year, i rate Para hills very highly and dont know how they are so low on the ladder, and they are our bogy side and that has to end this saturday, we will have a couple of out this week due to injury but the following week should get a few back. if we can chalk up a win here it leaves us in a really good position for the remainder of the year.

still really want to here what happened in the Kilburn Scotch game, i dont no to many of scotch players so not sure if they had many outs, i noticed they only named to best players so pressuming the coach wasnt to impressed with the rest of the side, im sure it would have been a big weekend for the kilburn boys and reckon a few of them might be a touch ill at the moment ;)

sheeds wrote:I went to Para Hills yesterday on my way back from Wallaroo hoping to see Roo play but in the end wasn't disappointed he didn't play because I saw a pretty good game of footy. IMO however, having multiple goalkickers is a far better option than relying on a few and PAC just had too many blokes who could lead up or take pack marks. The ruckman that went forward looked like he was playing on the wing at the time because they had another big left footer playing ruck so I'm not sure he "slutted" (whatever that means!) forward - more like he got away from his opponent to me. The #8, for whatever you think of him would be a nightmare to stand - and would require the best backman from the opposition (and he would still take marks) so that leaves all the other options to worry about. Para Hills ff & chf were good especially 1 on 1 and I was suprised to see their position on the ladder this morning - they looked better than that. I have no idea who is the best team in the div because I don't follow it closely but those 2 teams played a good style of footy yesterday. Just my opinion!

I also came down to see roo in action, but unfortunately he was named, but didnt play.
Good game of footy. Para Hills looked good early, but seem to rely too heavily on 9,10 in the forward line and 21 and 44 in the midfield.
PAC on the other hands had way too many contributors around the park and there ff and ruckmen dominated all day, whilst there midfielders and small forwards seemed to get in the right positions infront of goal and relieve the pressure on the big forwards.

Question needs to be asked. The focus has been on Kilburn for the last couple of years with their slide down the grades but the blow torch has never be applied to Scotch. Only a couple of years ago they were knocking on the door of D1 but now are close to sliding to D4. With all their connections and cashed VP's surely they would be able to get a decent side together to challange for a higher grade. PAOC & SPOC are on the right track. Can anyone answer what is the problem down there.
They have flown under the Radar for the last few years with all the heat on other clubs maybe questions should be asked about them especially after last weekend losing on their own dunghill!!!!

Wonder if the Kilburn boys knew the song!!!!!

may not get the spot light as much as they werent a quailty div 1 side. You could ask the same question about Woody South and probably other clubs aswell.

they look like they cant avoid relegation now..2 games + percentage away from para hills..in saying that i have been whispered to about a few new faces this week v PAOC..might not change the result, might be to late..but they have saved themselves before from this position..but it looks bleak for them..

Probably would not have to look far from Cambridge and Oxford Streets just off Unley Road for the new recruits is my guess as per other years
