I thought Giuffreda's smother to save a goal in the 2nd quarter probably told the story of the game. Eagles just did those little things better and to be able to score 4 goals with the ball hardly getting in to our forward half in that 2nd quarter was the difference. Sturt in the meantime couldn't kick straight to save themselves and with that inaccuracy probably kiss goodbye any serious threat they may have been in 2010.
I though Jarrad had a fantastic game at half back. Grocke presented well at Centre Half Forward and continues to be one of the most under rated players in the competition. Rowntree, Rimington, Miles and Giuffreda all played their part well. Day showed promising signs and if he can keep his intensity up for a full four quarters could be a very handy player - if not he will fall by the wayside.
A fantastic result and now gives the chance to cement a finals position over the next two weeks before the 2 week bye.

By all means, Dutchy, I'm not going any further with what I said; only what I saw. My policy is to comment on what I saw, and nothing more.

Spot on. Can't blame the Weslo guys for what happened today.
They weren't the guys drinking all day, being aggressive and chasing players around the ground. They've just got to control rubbish like this sadly! I reckon they did a good job not to let it get totally out of hand today.

Wasn't either of them!
Pretty disgraceful scene as a stream of inebriated Sturt cheer squad members chased Leigh Treeby around the ground before landing a couple of blows.
Not content with losing the match they seemed to want to go on with it after the game only held back by the security guys. Abuse directed towards the crowd in the grandstand after the game was a sad reflection of the Sturt cheer squads mentality. It's only a game guys.
Having witnessed these guys from a distance for a few years I'm dissapointed but not surprised. The reactions of the young kids who were caught in the middle of it said it all.
Having said that, good win by the Eags today. Definitely stronger at the contest today than we have been for a few weeks now.
Cornsey will be disappointed .....can't blame Centrals for this on![]()

PS - that goes for all supporters, but today those Sturt supporters deserve it.

csbowes wrote:This was the most infuriating game I've been to this season. Sturt were diabolical and I was utterly embarrassed by what was yet another example of completely inept and pathetic football. I do not enjoy sitting there watching my team cough up 2 points to a team that in my opinion were at best pretty average, but on the whole generally rubbish for most of the match. I can only presume that what I saw from Torrens today was the type of football that saw them lose the grannie by 20 goals a few years back. In my opinion and its just mine, but I thought Torrens lacked urgency and lacked any real desire to win, what they did have was a game plan they could execute when unencumbered and they did show steel to ignore Sturt's complete control of the game at times and just suck it up and hit back with a couple of goals when the time came. Now if that sounds really harsh on Torrens, then just think about where that leaves Sturt as the hopeless, p*** poor side that went down by 26 points?
Sturt were diabolical. They once again showed me that the crappy, stupid decision making and poor skills that has plagued most of their games this year has not left them like we (as supporters) had hoped after a few positive performances. Sturt once again threw away possession at times when they weren't really under that much pressure. They were shocking with regards to shooting for goal, 7.18 pretty much says it, but geez the misses were just unbelievable. No one minds missing shots under pressure or on tight angles, but Sturt were slotting through points from positions where it was harder to do so than get a goal. Snaps from 1 metre out, yes 1 metre out, that didn't even trouble the scoreboard but went out on the full. I could have handled losing this game if Torrens had played fast furious football, but they were boring and mediocre, yet were never in real danger of losing. So again, being harsh on them, but really more annoyed that I can't have any faith in them beating Centrals in the finals.

So by allowing a punch up in the crowd to occur your saying they did a good job. Weslo staff are payed to control crowd behaviour
