People can have a go at security staff, but it is the idiots who cause us to even need security staff who should take the full brunt of the blame.

Unfortunately, that will deflect discussion from what went on the other side of the fence. Lewis was sensational on the field when he wasn't resting for periods on the bench; McKenzie burst into life in the third; Rimington bobbed up and kicked some goals like last week; Giuffreda was arguably the BOG in the first quarter and a half; Grieger was dependable (helped by Chambers leaving the ground early on).

True, but the amber fluid is proven to tip people over the edge (and make the nut cases worse).

Spot on. Can't blame the Weslo guys for what happened today.

They weren't the guys drinking all day, being aggressive and chasing players around the ground. They've just got to control rubbish like this sadly! I reckon they did a good job not to let it get totally out of hand today.

I thought Giuffreda's smother to save a goal in the 2nd quarter probably told the story of the game. Eagles just did those little things better and to be able to score 4 goals with the ball hardly getting in to our forward half in that 2nd quarter was the difference. Sturt in the meantime couldn't kick straight to save themselves and with that inaccuracy probably kiss goodbye any serious threat they may have been in 2010.

I though Jarrad had a fantastic game at half back. Grocke presented well at Centre Half Forward and continues to be one of the most under rated players in the competition. Rowntree, Rimington, Miles and Giuffreda all played their part well. Day showed promising signs and if he can keep his intensity up for a full four quarters could be a very handy player - if not he will fall by the wayside.

A fantastic result and now gives the chance to cement a finals position over the next two weeks before the 2 week bye.

Pretty much agree with all of that Aerie. Was a real team effort, some good skills, but generally just a real competitive effort . Rowntree is really stamping himself as a league player, and hopefully with another pre-season will find just that extra yard of pace and fitness. Was reasonably impressed with Day. Miles again just a competitive effort. Rimmington loves getting under the oppositions skin, and that is great, provided he can also back it up with his footy.

Umpires I thought were really good today. Umpired in the style I want to see SANFL footy played. Generally let the play go and let the game be about the players. There were one or two dodgy ones either way as there always is. Stats will probably show the Eagles had a couple more frees, but I thought we were more hard at it for longer periods than the Blues.

I forgot to mention Thompson. He was another stand out today and has played his best footy the last two weeks in defence. Only a rookie at the Crows so we should have him for the remainder of the season, but suspect he may be upgraded at season's end. Very talented and has all the attributes.

Does beg the question if the sturt cheer squad is such a problem .Why we as a club allowed them to park their truck in the ground and bring in their banner .Perhaps we are to nice at times to other clubs.

Now for the replay ;)

Well done to the Eagles, a gutsy win today, certainly played the better overall football, Sturt's poor goal kicking simply proved costly and losing Chambers early didn't obviously help. Was very impressed with Scott Lewis, Patrick Guiffreda and James Rimmington today, they were very good for the Eagles, as was veteran Cicca.

It was a shame with what unfolded in the crowd and it is dissapointing these type of things happen, it's not a good look for the SANFL which is such a great competition, it's sad it is being marred by incidents such as this and the inept performances of the Weslow security firm.

What's dissapointing also about the events that unfolded, was that just prior to the bounce I made mention of how nice it was of a couple of Eagles supporters to help the Sturt cheersquad with Ben Nelson's 200 Game banner and that it is a good community feel about the SANFL, then something like this goes and happens, not good at all.

Well done to Ben Nelson on playing his 200th, obviously not the result he would have been looking for in his milestone game, well done to the Eagles for the win and a reasonable crowd of just under 3,000.

I was in the outer when the fight in the crowd broke out, but saw some of the sh!t after the game.
Seemed to be mainly the Sturt cheer squad again, with a couple of Eagles sticking their bibs in where they probably shouldn't have.
Just a disgrace.
Sure, we all go to the footy and get excited and have a bit of a yell. Sturt supporters fully deserve to be totally frustrated but it was THEIR PLAYERS THAT LET THEM DOWN, especially in front of goal. We won today, another time Sturt will win. Those involved should have a GOOD HARD LOOK AT THEMSELVES. If you can't control your frustrations and langauge and show some humility and are so SELFISH not to realise their are kids and older people around, then stay home.
There were plenty of ex-players there today who have spilled their blood, sweat and guts on the track and the playing field at a standard of PLAYING AND SPORTSMANSHIP far above your talents and to act like that you only EMBARRASS YOURSELVES and look like DICKHEADS.

Didn't know that Treeby was chased by Sturt supporters, and that juts makes me fel sick.

PS - that goes for all supporters, but today those Sturt supporters deserve it.

This was the most infuriating game I've been to this season. Sturt were diabolical and I was utterly embarrassed by what was yet another example of completely inept and pathetic football. I do not enjoy sitting there watching my team cough up 2 points to a team that in my opinion were at best pretty average, but on the whole generally rubbish for most of the match. I can only presume that what I saw from Torrens today was the type of football that saw them lose the grannie by 20 goals a few years back. In my opinion and its just mine, but I thought Torrens lacked urgency and lacked any real desire to win, what they did have was a game plan they could execute when unencumbered and they did show steel to ignore Sturt's complete control of the game at times and just suck it up and hit back with a couple of goals when the time came. Now if that sounds really harsh on Torrens, then just think about where that leaves Sturt as the hopeless, p*** poor side that went down by 26 points?

Sturt were diabolical. They once again showed me that the crappy, stupid decision making and poor skills that has plagued most of their games this year has not left them like we (as supporters) had hoped after a few positive performances. Sturt once again threw away possession at times when they weren't really under that much pressure. They were shocking with regards to shooting for goal, 7.18 pretty much says it, but geez the misses were just unbelievable. No one minds missing shots under pressure or on tight angles, but Sturt were slotting through points from positions where it was harder to do so than get a goal. Snaps from 1 metre out, yes 1 metre out, that didn't even trouble the scoreboard but went out on the full. I could have handled losing this game if Torrens had played fast furious football, but they were boring and mediocre, yet were never in real danger of losing. So again, being harsh on them, but really more annoyed that I can't have any faith in them beating Centrals in the finals.

For Sturt, game over, sick of saying that one week and then thinking we're alive the next, but that game proved we've gone nowhere fast and in my opinion, I think Norman should be sacked come seasons end.

... that might seem like a VERY severe backlash against the coach who took us to the Grand Final last season, but I'm starting to think the players must have done that and not him, as where is that motivational prowess now?

No game plan. No forward movement. No idea.

Based on what I saw today, I can't even be bothered going to see them the next couple of weeks. This season is far worse than the majority of the spooner years back in the 1990's.

Wasn't either of them!

Pretty disgraceful scene as a stream of inebriated Sturt cheer squad members chased Leigh Treeby around the ground before landing a couple of blows.
Not content with losing the match they seemed to want to go on with it after the game only held back by the security guys. Abuse directed towards the crowd in the grandstand after the game was a sad reflection of the Sturt cheer squads mentality. It's only a game guys.

Having witnessed these guys from a distance for a few years I'm dissapointed but not surprised. The reactions of the young kids who were caught in the middle of it said it all.

Having said that, good win by the Eags today. Definitely stronger at the contest today than we have been for a few weeks now.

Cornsey will be disappointed .....can't blame Centrals for this on ;) ;)

Come on, we had the bye today and could easily have disguised ourselves as Sturt and Eagles fans.

Treeby standing in front of the Sturt Cheer Squad, DELETED is not the actions of a particularly smart club representative.

I believe a formal complaint will be lodged with the WWTFC with regards the antics of their reserves players.

Regardless of what morons do on behalf of either team, be it Torrens supporters or Sturt supporters, reserves players should know better than to get into verbal exchanges with the general public.

I believe the antics of Treeby were caught on video too...

I don't have any delusions that we at Centrals level. However, from my point of view the Eagles competitiveness at the 50-50 footy today was really pleasing. I agree it would have been better to see the Eagles play some more urgent footy, but this seemed to be an instruction to not turn the ball over or kick to to many 50-50's where Sturt could potentially use their pace to get a quick break.

Admittedly the Eagles have a bit of fortune with the Chambers injury.

Two blokes for you - Herring and Johncock - so much potential, but just played awful footy today, and really could be the difference between where you are and being legitimate challengers to Centrals.

Well Doggies assistant coach Gavin Chaplin was at Woodville Oval today keeping an eye on Sturt, Central's opponent next week.

Maybe Chappy will get blamed ;)
