PS: I wasn't impressed with the Norwood captain shouting a four letter word to the grandstand crowd with a minute or two to go.
Average.

If one team places 2-3 extra in defence, what should the opposition do ?
Flood
Or send those numbers up forward as well ?
UMPIRES
In WA favour until 3/4 time
Then NW got the decisions in the last qtr
And to think some people on SAFOOTY think that the umps make no difference

It must be a record, though, for one team to get 3 of their 8 goals from one umpire's 25 or 50 metere penalties. Hello Tony![]()
As for flooding, knowing this would be the usual refrain, I pointed out to a well-known and respected Leg's fan that Norwood often started with not just 1 man behind the ball, not just 2, but THREE men behind the ball today.
That's footy.
I agree with Thiele; it was a hard, tough game, in the balance nearly all day.

As I may have mentioned to you after that though I honestly thought the result was a victory for football. Whilst Norwood may have started with loose men behind the ball it's what they did when they had it which was the difference imho. Too often West had to go laterally as they simply didn't have any kind of numbers ahead of the ball to attack meaningfully. While Norwood's skill level was down I reckon their intent when they got the ball was to go forward and try and score goals.
I don't believe that was the case often enough for West's players today.

I heard that Bass was told of parts of Powers game plan and the first time it was implemented was against sturt at the parade, given that the Power suck and maybe a few other clubs are starting to work out Norwood are they now being severly challenged?

Believe it if you like, but the bottom line is there is nothing to "work out" with Norwood, we have been playing long and direct footy, hitting the ball and tackling hard. It's not rocket science, just good basic footy. Against Sturt we didn't tackle anywhere near as hard as we have been doing, we didn't get numbers to the ball, it was lacklustre. Today, we had enough chances to score more than we did but just didn't use the ball well. It was simply a poor performance ... which we still managed to win.
